Summary:

Meeting an old acquaintance again can be a bit of a culture shock. Instantly clicking again with your old ride or die… is a different sort of shock entirely. Jon Sims has an unlooked-for run-in with the old flame of his youth. Still unmistakably the full-blood goth Jon fell for all those years ago. Gerry Delano really hadn't expected to run into Jon Sims of all people, either. Jon who changed quite a bit, from the looks of it. But that's life. People change over the years, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Jon settled as a librarian-slash-archivist, has a boyfriend, and leads a calmer life now. Gerry themself changed as well, after all. “Settling into domesticity… it’s not me, not what I want or need. Sure I want a steady life but I don’t want a calm or quiet life, at all. That's the thing. Life's different when he's around. And we both know I like different.”

Yes, this is an older work (from 2021) of mine but I’m still proud of it and I am currently in the process of editing and reworking the story to make it a full-fledged novel. (Meaning, severing all connections to the original fandom given it was a completely disconnected AU anyway.) I haven’t edited this version on AO3 since 2021 so there are quite a bunch of mistakes and errors but since I started writing JonGerry again, I kind of want to draw attention to this older work also. If you would rather read a canon-divergence, click the link in the previous sentence. That current WiP is a canon-divergence by the way of time travel and other shenanigans.

Summary:

Gerry works as a volunteer with a community group. Thanks to their looks and approachable nature, he became one of the go-to people. Which is kind of a curse, considering the group absolutely loves gossip and tittle-tattle. Still, Gerry deeply enjoys being with the group and caring for his community. So it is a no-brainer, really, that they are the one who wanders over to a forlorn looking Jon. Just to offer company, making sure he's alright. – – – – – “We aren’t the only community group using the building, obviously. There are also several self-help and support groups, organising mutual aid. And we work somewhat closely with the group therapy and addiction-recovery programs that are offered here.” He shrugged, “Basically, we just happen to focus on organising and connecting our people, directing them towards specific services and help as needed. Plus, obviously, providing a place to socialise and exist openly. That’s the main reason why our program isn’t really straight-forward or even coherent, really. Aside from the regular group activities like handicraft, cooking class, et cetera.”“So similar to how a queer group would organise itself around the other services the community-hub hosts.”

Update Summary: Jon is back from rehab, Gerry got concert tickets, and Martin finally gets to relax with Jon again.

But with their differing opinions on what's best for Jon and his recovery… well, Martin and Gerry are both rather strong-willed when it comes to taking care of Jon.

Update-Summary:

Martin found out about the nude-painting of Jon. Or more precisely, he found out it got published. And he is not exactly amused about that.

Picking the pieces of his fight with Martin back up, Jon knows he has to make a decision. Is his being with Martin worth seeing Gerry hurt and self-doubting? What a good thing, Gerry already offered Jon get a swift butt-kick from Sasha, about what to do.

And, of course, it's not like Jon had had any hope his talk with Sasha would have stayed private. Her being Gerry's best friend, Jon is actually relieved it's not on him to relay all that Sasha set him straight about.

Gerry's 41st birthday (yea, I messed up the ages-time line but now I'm committed to this one!) rolls around, a nice evening with friends, poking fun at Tim, and showing around their photo album takes Jon's mind off things. Oh, also there's some dancing he has to brave through. Not that Gerry is making that hard on him.
