Something I’ve actually never seen talked about that really irks me in scifi is the tendency for alien races to all speak the same language all across their planet, and additionally all have the exact same culture and beliefs. To me that seems pretty unrealistic when you look at the vast variety of languages and cultures/religions here on Earth, it really doesn’t make sense that an alien species/civilization wouldn’t have the same amount of diversity and “spiritual evolution”, so to speak. If aliens from different parts of their planet evolved different appearances from the rest of their species, especially in the earlier stages of their evolution, then it only makes sense that they would have evolved different languages and cultural beliefs too.
