are there any district 10 headcanons you’d like to share?
Sure thing 🙏
1. I’m really into the idea that D10 has also a big metal/steel industry, but not in the terms of producing but more forging, or could even be the main import ? Knowing how much tending to livestock requires steel tools, for jobs like butcher, slaughterhouse worker, farrier, etc. — I also believe it is one reason why D10 kids also tend to have names that could be direct inspiration from said tools (Brandy, Stamp, Peeler…)
2. Another one of my favourite headcanons is where the “main city” would be situated, and I like to think of it as being in the coast of the Mexican Gulf, in the south of Texas (Between Houston & Corpus Christi, if that makes any sense), as most slaughterhouses tend to be built near bodies of water (rivers, lakes or coastlines), and I believe that for efficiency they would be close to the city, also considering that you can be under 18 to work there.
3. I believe I’ve shared this one before (or just my questioning about it) but I do not think that they would have livestock breeds as we know of today. I believe that the livestock they’d raise (cows, sheep, pig, geese, chicken, etc) would’ve been bred overtime to contain all the best attributes in one category (milk, meat, wool, eggs…). I wouldn’t say that all of livestock of one category look the same, as they have to keep some genetic diversity, but I’d say that the breeds aren’t as varied as the ones we have nowadays.
4. This is something I need to rework on but I liked to think of D10 as also being huge on firearm manufacturing, considering that Texas is the largest gun producing state, and for the sake of aesthetics (even if you’ll never catch me reducing D10 to western-cowboy-whatever) I believe that during the Dark Days, most of the rebels would fight with guns, after overtaking the factories, and the Capitol was really incapacitated during that time as most firearms were built there, but they eventually were re-supplied later during the war. This is also a bit darker but I do think of D10’s primarily way of execution is by firing squad.
This is most of the things I could think of at the top of my head, and I hope it was interesting enough. I think way too much about District 10, so never hesitate to ask me about it & I would also be down to help developing more headcanons ;)
