Tagged by my beloveds @s3tm3onfir3 and @rinsfanfics01. Haven't done any writing for the last two weeks cos of big office dramas (that ended with someone being suspended on a criminal charge) and now I'm in the middle of a 6 day mandatory coursework (which ironically includes a course on basic English) so here's a WIP "La Bella Vita (It's a beautiful life)" instead.

(Hopefully I can do some writing tomorrow since it's a long weekend)

“So you’re leaving?” Maddie asked mid-sip. The two of them were having breakfast the very next day before Maddie’s shift at dispatch when Buck finally broke the news about him leaving.

(Apparently Chim had told Maddie how Buck had apparently left Eddie in a lurch by moving out while he was out, leaving him with nowhere to stay for the rest of his visit. Maddie, interestingly, waited for Buck’s side of the story, figuring there must be a reason why he did it.

“Not for long, just for a while.” Buck looked down at the croissant he was shredding into pieces. “I just needed some time away just for me.” He already talked to the HR department over the phone about his leave application and was approved within the hour. (It was like they were actually excited for him to take the vacation.)

“Where will you go?” His sister reached out and rested her hands over his, stopping his fidgeting.

“Italy. Tommy’s visiting his grandaunt in Tuscany and asked me to join him.” He said shyly.

“Is this a great idea?” Maddie asked and hurriedly added when she saw Buck’s hurt expression. “I’m just asking because last I heard from you, you and Tommy were…” She trailed off.

but to add to it, i want it to be that it's someone that gets it so that i'm not just like baselessly talking into the air and going "if you get what i mean?" every few sentences. the one person i'd want to unpack it with is instead the person whomst this has become all about
