From AFFRM to ARRAY: Ugh!
Ava Duvernay is my girl...in my head, at least, but her move to change the organization she started from exclusively telling stories featuring the African Diaspora to this kumbaya collective that aims to also help women (aka white women) and minorities(every non-Black POC) makes me boil with anger. These are the same people who don't give a shit about us! The same people who would never expand their organizations to include and help us, but will come running with their hands out screaming "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" when we offer them something they want. We need to stop doing this shit! We always create these amazing, fabulous organizations/companies/institutions because no body is checking for/helping us, but soon as we get hot(aka Selma) everybody and they Mama walking up to us asking for a handout and a coupon. Then we feel like we need to restructure our companies into these collaborative, kumbaya organizations that help everybody! Fuck kumbaya! We as Black people need to worry about ourselves and stop catering to non-Black folk. Answer this for me: What have they done for us lately?
