One more half to get the viastat triple crown!! So excited!! #milesaremiles #afchalf #letnickrun #findyourstrong #fys
Ok! I went to San Diego this weekend to run in the America's Finest City Half Marathon. It was such a blast and a great accomplishment. 8,000 runners and a lot of sweat! I finished with a time of 2:05:35 and an overall place of 2,787. But my boyfriend, Nick Hilton, finished with a time of 1:04:41 and 4th place! His finishing time qualified him for the olympic marathon trials! What a great weekend it was and it was tough to leave beautiful San Diego and go back to Flagstaff. I have one more semester left at NAU and Nick has lots of training to do. Check out NICK HILTON'S blog The Moderately Talented Distance Runner!! http://hiltonsteeple.blogspot.com/ http://hiltonsteeple.blogspot.com/ http://hiltonsteeple.blogspot.com/ http://hiltonsteeple.blogspot.com/ http://hiltonsteeple.blogspot.com/ He's got so much potential and is well on his way to where he wants to be. Time to start training for my next half marathon. I caught the running bug!!

This past Sunday I finished my first San Diego race, The AFC Half Marathon. I wanted to make sure I treated this race as a training run for the marathon, and not a full on race, since I didn't feel completely prepared for the 13.1 distance.
While forcing myself to take it easy in the beginning was a little difficult, it was really worth it when I hit those final two miles, which were completely uphill. Guys, it sucked. Since I'm new to the area, and did not properly check out the course, this was a complete surprise to me, and I think I probably resembled Gollum (Haaay LOTR reference) trying to hunch my way to the top.
Anyways, I made it. My time was 2:09:50 which wasn't my best, but certainly wasn't my worst, so I'll take it! I'm so psyched to have my first race in the books in my new city, and I joined a couple of running meet ups today so I can make some friends. Yay for running buds!
Tomorrow, intervals in Mission Bay. I'm actually excited about this. What's happening to me?!
Adios.
