My altmer vampire and his wife, Brelyna in Blackreach, because I was so mesmerized when I saw that place at the first time... I think I spent more days (literal days, not in-game days) trying to take in all it’s beauty and imagining the place in the times the dwemer still lived here.
I’ve seen a lot of people drawing parallels between Laputa: Castle in the Sky and Steven Universe, as Ruby and Sapphire interact with each other very similarly to Sheeta and Pazu. From that, I noticed a lot of great artwork for a Castle in the Sky AU, where Sapphire is Sheeta and Ruby is Pazu or some variation. I thought it would be great to contribute with something a little different.
In a true Crystal Gem au, Sheeta and Pazu would definitely be Ruby and Sapphire. They could also work as Steven and Connie, but that would involve Pazu being gemless, which would honestly make more sense. There are lots of ways a Crystal Gem au could work, and I’m still unsure about a lot of details. Like where exactly their gems would be; the hands work just fine, but in the movie, Sheeta wears the stone around her neck. So having their gems on Sheeta’s chest and Pazu’s forehead or something would work too.
As there is no neat way of combining their names, their fusion would be called Aetherium, which is the fictional and extremely powerful element in Castle in the Sky. I wanted them to keep the red and blue dynamic that Ruby and Sapphire have, so Sheeta could be a Moonstone and Pazu could be a Sunstone, which works to symbolically represent not only their personalities, but their opposing forces. Equal and not opposite exactly, but different. Sheeta is very calm and stoic most of the time, rarely showing her emotions. Pazu is headstrong, enthusiastic, and extremely loving. Together, they bring out the best in the other.
Aetherium would be a very scary character, capable of the same destructive power that Laputa had. But, as they are composed of two sweet little children, Aetherium wouldn’t want to fight. Defending the people they love, or the planet, would be their first priority, but they would do everything they can before fighting. But once its inevitable, they take this “I destroyed Laputa, I can destroy you too,” sort of stance. Similar to how Garnet’s appearance evolved, so would Aetherium, and they would go from a messy blend of two children to a sleek gem, so comfortable that you could hardly tell they were a fusion.
