What is up with all of the TikTokâs saying, âi used to be a therian, it was fun. Yeah I grew up. it was a cool phaseâŚetc.â as someone who feels this is deeply woven into my identity, I donât understand how people could say itâs just a phase if they felt it was part of their identity. As a trans person i understand dysphoria and treating it, but Iâve never seen someone wake up and just be like, âbeing trans was cool, glad I grew up.â What the hell does that even mean? It seems to me like so many people use it as a fad but in reality it is something deeply tied to someoneâs identity, to who they are.
For clarification, I understand that identity is truly impermanent, as someone who identifies with Santana Dharma (Hinduism.) BUT, people are using this as a trend and itâs annoying. Massive difference between evolving and being trendy. Thatâs all.

I saw a TikTok the other day with several million likes that said something along the lines of âmy little sister is a therian and wearing cat ears to school and im so scared for herâ and like. Weird video obviously but what really did me in was a comment that said âmy younger sister was also a therian, im glad I bullied her out of it, it was for her own good :(â and it had like several thousand likes. are you people okay. that is such a miserable way of living your life. bullying someone out of doing something is already disgusting but for it to be your younger sister, someone who looks up to you? and for what? because youâre afraid they might get bullied? congratulations! youâve just become their first bully! you have just mocked and scared them out of a passion or something that brings them joy most likely because YOUâRE embarrassed. what an awful way to live and treat others
