"I didn't do anything. All I did was pick up the sword, and then, woosh, I'm in a tiara!"
My (possibly unpopular) take on Tonks
I know the books didnāt give us much about Tonks, and the films basically turned her into an extra, but my interpretation of her is a little different from most fans. This is purely personal, Iām not saying itās the only correct one, just how I see her.
A lot of people talk about Tonks as if sheās a punky, pink-haired badass who swears, makes rude gestures, and can change anything about her appearance at will.
But hereās how I see her:
⢠A fierce woman who only does what she wants, doesnāt take ānoā for an answer, and vents when sheās upset.
⢠Someone who fights tooth and nail for what she believes in, yet has a soft, fragile side too.
⢠Not a badass feminist stereotype. She married Remus, who had this huge protective instinct. A woman like that wouldāve felt smothered, and Remus himself wouldāve felt unnecessary. That would never have worked.
⢠Someone incredibly intense in love and conviction. She loved Remus so fiercely that his rejection broke her: her magic faltered, her Patronus changed... She loved him so fiercely that she didnāt care about being an outcast, about Bellatrix targeting her, about anything other than marrying him. She loved him so fiercely that she died because of it: running into a deadly battle after him, leaving her newborn behind, because she couldnāt stand not knowing if he was okay.
⢠A woman who loved to laugh and didnāt care about age or any other kind of prejudice. (She fell in love with someone 13 years older, was friends with Ginny who was 8 years younger, and married a werewolf. She really didnāt care.)
⢠Someone who changed her looks simply because she could. Pink was her favourite colour, and she only shifted her nose and hair. (Yes, she once disguised herself as an old woman, but honestly: make your hair grey, do an old-lady hairstyle, tweak your nose, and voilĆ ! Headcanon: She probably did it just to tease Remus after one of his ātoo oldā arguments. Remember this happens immediately after Harry finds them having a private conversation in Order of the Phoenix. The timing makes me laugh every time š¤£.)
And don't forget that Harry recognized her almost every time (he just wasn't paying much attention to the "old lady"). People act as if we don't know how she really looks like, but the books repeatedly describe her as having a pale heart-shaped face and dark eyes. Her hair is mostly pink, but it's naturally "mousy brown". She also shows up with long red hair and blonde curls.
⢠Definitely not the type to constantly swear and make obscene gestures. She mightāve used slang, sure, but anything harsher wouldnāt have suited Remusā quiet politeness... and honestly, I think she wouldāve found him boring if sheād been that brash.
And honestly? I see her as ADHD-coded:
⢠Loves changing her looks āļø
⢠Clumsy as heck āļø
⢠Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria āļø
⢠Big, intense feelings āļø
Why do I read her like that? Because it makes total sense in canon, that's the idea I always have when I read the books... and maybe also because thatās literally... me!
1. Iāve always hated being called by my real name (just now learning to accept it, because I love its meaning).
2. Iāve got ADHD (and autism. Yeah, jackpot, right? š ).
3. Iām an actress, so I keep changing my looks.
4. I donāt care about age gaps. Most of my friends are younger or older, never my age.
5. Iām not prejudiced; my friends are from all sorts of backgrounds.
6. Iām always cracking jokes.
7. I fight obsessively for what I think is right.
8. My feelings are ridiculously intense.
9. My mum married my dad, who came from a lower social class.
10. I'm an only child.
11. I'm really stubborn.
12. My grandfatherās surname? Black. (Well, actually āPretoā, which means āBlackā in my mother language, Portuguese. š¤)
11. I'm a proud Hufflepuff š
12. And, of course, I love Remus with all my heart. š©·
So yes, maybe itās unpopular, but this is my Tonks. Which is also why whenever I write Remadora, it always ends up as self-insert. š
Ok so we all know Shawn Spencer is brilliant (just a normal adhd man you are correct @thisautistic) but I wanna talk about the disability side for a sec.
Why isnāt Shawn Spencer running the place, colloquially speaking?Heās smart enough, heās capable enough. Itās not just that he would get bored, though thatās absolutely part of it. Because despite the information processing and pattern recognition superpowers that come with adhd (perhaps augmented by a compulsive neurodivergent parent), it is a disability. Despite his presentation of being more or less ānormalā Shawn has moderate support needs. Without his support system, his dad, Gus, Juliet, Lassiter et al, he is a mess. They donāt really get into it in the series but I know that man has spent time homeless as a result of his adhd. There are occasional jokes about his credit and financial issues but that shit can and will ruin your life. Also a common result of adhd symptoms.
It is extremely difficult if not entirely impossible to survive on your own with this kind of disability. The sheer amount of work that takes usually leaves you kind of miserable. And Iām just fucking emotional about how the people that care about Shawn support him and let him do his ridiculous unconventional shit that he needs to do to maintain his drive to keep living, ok? Even though he drives them all nuts at some point or another, they are willing to meet his needs to help him survive and ultimately, thrive.
taking a stand and telling everyone that the entire EM department in the pitt is adhd/autistic
robby, adhd
mohan, audhd
abbot, autistic
mel, come on guys

Introducing; Yuichi Usagi-Cuddles!
Thereās a slight typo in his basic character bio, (first, grey image) other than āyuich,ā his family in America lives in the part of the hidden city under Jersey. He lives in Jersey. Heās a Jersian. So in terms of leosagi, itās gonna be an enemies-to-lovers comedy-of-errors muahahahaha!!
More (a LOT more) info about him as his own guy under the cutoff :D ā¬ļø
Captain Arthur Hastings is so ADHD coded.
Every episode he has a new hyperfixation, that he has abandoned by the next one. His car is pretty much his only constant interest but even then he plans to participate in a 24 HOUR race without having any experience with racing. We see how easily a new hyperfixation is triggered with Hastings in one episode (don't know exactly which one) when he and Poirot visit some attorney who deals with the stock market and not shortly after Hastings is absolutely obsessed with it. It screams ADHD to me.
In 'The Wasps Nest', when Hastings is currently obsessed with photography, Poiroit even says something along the lines of "his newest tick, I'll give him two weeks" (rough translation from the German synchronisation since the English original is not available anywhere in Germany as far as I know ...). So we have canon proof that Hastings getting new obsessions/hobbies and abandoning them shortly after is indeed happening and not just the writers not showing us how he pursues his interest anymore.
I'd also attribute his naivety/slowness (some people say he's stupid but I won't) to ADHD. I myself and most people I know with ADHD keep getting told that we are naive or gullible. Taking people at face value and generally not assuming ill intent is common in people with ADHD and something we also see in Hastings.
His slowness / him not being really smart is a characteristic that is certainly being amplified by the fact that we constantly see him in comparison to Poirot (I doubt that he would be seen as that stupid if the show was just him and Japp). I'd also say that him not being able to follow Poirot's deduction and reasoning doesn't mean that he is necessarily dumb, just that he is not as intelligent as Poirot and he does have his smart moments. (Also I think he was meant to represent the audience, and we often also have no clue what'S going on) But his less bright moments can also be attributed to ADHD. ADHD causes brain frog , as well as concentration and memory issues ( If I don't write important appointments down on my arm I will forget them no matter how important, but I can tell you everything I've learned about vulcanos when I was 8). He gets distracted easily, fails to pay attention to the 'important aspects' of cases and would rather tell everyone about his newest hyperfixation or work on his car, but he's trying his best. In his areas of expertise (cars, or whatever he is currently obsessed with) he is smart and knows his way around, he's just at loss when it comes to everything else.
I forgot halfway through where I was going with this soooo....
