What is the difference between having schizoaffective disorder and having schizophrenia and bipolar??
Okie dokie Anon lemme lay some knowledge on ya~
Schizoaffective disorder is a combination of symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders, such as depression or bipolar disorder. Symptoms might occur at the same time or at different times.
Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder as a separate diagnoses will of course combat eachother when it comes to symptoms happening at the same time,
Bipolar is a disorder associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs.
Schizophrenia is a disorder that affects a person's ability to think, feel, and behave clearly. They also loose the ability to tell from reality and their "Imagination", I wouldnt use that word normally but I'm blanking right now 'cause im off to my therapist appt,
So in a way the only way they differ, to me at least, is that Schizoaffective disorder already has the mood disorder symptoms attached at the hip so you'd only need one diagnosis which is more easier to attain because in order to get the other two(2) diagnoses you'll need to spend a lot more time observing your own symptoms and taking note for you and your doctor.
But they are a little bit different in how they operate.
And of course mi amigos I'm in no way a doctor but this is just what I gather from reading different psychology books from school, and personal experiences, Anon I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope this helped even if it's just a little bit!
I think I might have bpd as well as a schizo-spectrum condition (specifically schizoaffective) after 6 months of bpd research and 5 months of research on schizo-spectrum conditions but am still hesitant to see someone out of a small nagging fear that I dont actually fit the criteria and am just almost manipulating myself into fitting them, despite several friends agreeing with me, and the fact that I've experienced the symptoms longer than I've been researching them. Any advice??
It is possible you might have both since you were experiencing both of the disorder's symptoms, if you think you're faking the disorders or that you're just manipulating yourself into thinking your faking it, I dont think you're faking because unless you woke up one day and said, "Hey, I'm gonna fake all of these symptoms and everything about the disorders!" And legit planned out how you're going to fool people and doctors about you having the disorders than no you're not faking it.
I hope this helps, if it doesn't I apologize sincerely, this is just what I thought you were saying/ asking, have a wonderful day!
I think the tag “actuallyschizospectrum” is a good idea for a tag, especially for experiences that are common among schizophrenic spectrum conditions.
