So... about that "puppetgate" thinggy...
1. Autistic people are NOT fucking puppets. We are human beings. We don't have any dead-body-grey skin, we aren't made of any clothes, and we are not a bloody toy.
2. Autism👏is👏not👏a👏 disease!!!👏👏👏👏 If I had a dollar for each time any of us had to explain it to allistic™ people, I'd be richer than mark Zuckerberg himself!
3. Autistic people aren't animals and we won't be treated like ones.
4. Is your child autistic and you're the type of parent to be like "wElL aUtIsM iSn'T jUsT aFfEcTiNg tHe cHiLdddd!!1!!!" and agreed with every single thing in that show?

a positive experience “coming out” as autistic
I know I don’t have a ton of followers or anything, but I just wanted to share this for anyone who feels nervous to tell people they’re autistic. I got diagnosed as an adult and decided to finally tell my family about it today. I texted them all to let them know that I am autistic AND that april is coming up and that they should not support A$ (I didn’t want to tell everyone just to have them all “light it up blue!” in april and me have to awkwardly tell them thank you but NO).
So I sent the text and not 5 minutes later my dad was calling me. which, calls are already scary enough. but I answered and he was just like “I want to know more about what this means for you”... so I basically info dumped all about autism and all the misconceptions and everything - and he was just the best about all of it. he started talking about his own childhood and how he’s experienced similar things, and then he starts talking about my siblings too and how they’ve displayed signs and he’s like “I think you might be on to something here” and I just felt so validated.
He told me I should tell my extended family (his side of the family), and when I did, I learned that my cousin was also diagnosed with Aspergers when she was in middle school, and how it opened so many doors for her in terms of understanding and adapting. everyone was telling me how great it was that I was learning so much about myself and how good this would be for me, and I was just overwhelmed with happiness.
I see so many posts about people getting negative responses when bringing up autism, and sadly I think that’s the experience for a lot of people. I’m really blessed that my family responded the way they did, and i want other people who have fears about this kind of thing to know that it’s not always going to end badly. educating people on it really helps them see autism for what it actually is. we definitely have a far way to come in terms of acceptance, but I felt so much acceptance today and I thought that should be shared. ❤️

hey stimmers!! if you're looking for inexpensive stim toys, i highly suggest checking out what Wish has to offer! i firmly believe in supporting ND creators, but sometimes you just can't afford it. Self diagnosed
I myself am not self diagnosed, I was diagnosed with Aspergers just under a year ago. To people who self diagnose, it really varies if I support it or not, in some cases I understand the reasoning, in others not so much. You can’t just diagnose yourself because you feel weird or quirky, just be careful with self diagnosis of any kind people.
Quick note since its 3 am
I'm I don't suffer from autism, I suffer from the way people treat me because of my autism. I don't need some allistic person to force suffering onto me because they can't accept that autism hasn't ruined my life.
