The main reason the idea that, "We should support disabled people, after all, anyone can become disabled at anytime!" does not work is because it makes rights for real disabled people contingent on it having hypothetical benefits to abled people. When the point of disability activism is to help disabled people, not appease the ableds.

Another reason is that eugenics is so baked into society that many people will readily admit they would rather die then be disabled. And people do not care much to help those they think should be dead.

What world do people live in where they believe that the more a disabled person needs care, the more care they get?

Even when disabled people talk about the care that they need and how much they have been neglected and otherwise abused, others shout them down.

Yes, some disabled people, even severely disabled ones, get all the care that they need. And some others don't but still have a support system that cares for them and does all they can to help them.

But the vast majority get a small fraction of the love and care that they need. They may barely get by, they may be doing okay now but have suffered in the past, and many of of them don't make it.

Disabled people are killed. The more we need from others, the more vulnerable we are, the more we are dehumanized, the more likely we are to be killed.

We have suicides triggered by lack of care, death from neglect, and our murders are called mercy killings.

Needing care is not a privilege.

Me: Using disabilities and symptoms of disabilities as insults or as setup and punchline to jokes is ableist.

My Comments: You can't say that because you don't have every disability ever, which means you are speaking over other disabled people. Also, you can't say that about the disabilities that you have because I assume people without your disabilities disagree with you. And I would know as I smelled a disabled person just like you once. This means that my non-argument proves that I am better than you. Checkmate, snowflake.

Oftentimes, whether or not people believe you are disabled depends on if they feel they can use your disability against you.

This is also why people who armchair diagnose are often against self-diagnosis.
