oh for lords sake nobody is saying that we don't need non-bar/nightclub spaces we're saying that saying that lgbt spaces are inherently sexual is homophobic
...Have you? Been paying any attention to the discourse? At all?
People aren’t saying that lgbtq spaces are inherently sexual, they’re saying that the spaces most people have access to all happen to be sexual in nature, or frequently include sexual content, or are just nightclubs, so we need more non-sexual and non-nightclub spaces. Like bookclubs and cafes, which are really fucking rare outside of a few cities and often don’t advertise.
But people (usually aphobes and anti-sjws) are insisting that we don’t need spaces that aren’t nightclubs. Hell, on my first page, there’s a rather nasty anon insisting just that. There’s people saying that pointing out the lack of non-nightclub spaces is somehow homophobic.
Also, most posts calling for more non-nightclub spaces - even if they don’t mention nightclubs, even if they’re not even related to the ace discourse - get attacked.
