What's your fav and most surprising experiences having rabbits? I've never really spent time with bunnies one on one for long since they seem like too much work for me. So cute tho!
ohh what a wonderful question, thank you for asking!!
To me, I think something that's both so fun and surprising about bunnies is how different they are from each other. I've had four bunnies now, and they all have such different personalities and behaviours. It's so wonderful getting to know each one. Bunnies are very much creatures of habit and get used to certain schedules, favourite places to sit, and foods, but each bunny is different in those respects.
For example, my new bunny Gloin has this favourite spot right beside the litter box that he really likes to lie down, and that's where he chooses to spend most of his rest time. He loves to flop on his side and roll almost onto his back--none of the other bunnies flopped like that. And he actually purrs sometimes as he runs around, and none of the others did that, either. It's so fun seeing these new things that I've never seen before from any of the others!
I also really love how they all have/had favourite toys and things to do. Elsa loved to dig into blankets and mess up the cage, Nori loved chewing cardboard and toilet paper rolls dhkjkhjfd Marshy was so cuddly and wanted lots of attention. I'm still learning more about Gloin! but so far, I know that his favourite food is romaine lettuce. Marshy liked parsley the best, and Nori and Elsa both loved kale (and would have "kale fights" where they would both eat the same piece and then tug on it till one of them got the rest of the piece dfhjkfd)
Another thing that definitely can be surprising (and isn't too fun but can be very funny) is learning what kind of mischief rabbits get into and learning to think from their point of view. my first bunny Nori bit right through my 3DS charger when I was sitting beside him playing dfhjkdfd I quickly learned to keep all cords out of reach, because he Would try to bite them. "Bunnyproofing" the kitchen (where their cage is/where they play during playtime) was tricky but sort of fun at the same time as you learn to understand what a bunny might find appealing to play with.
I really love when you get to the point of knowing a bunny's habits and what is normal for them. it really warms my heart being able to know them that well. Rabbits are really quiet and shy creatures who naturally hide their weaknesses, so when they feel free to play and show their personality to me, it makes me so happy that they trust me enough to do that.
