private muse / test muse. abby, or A.B., from that one movie where they're both idols and demon hunters. in this case, this is my own interpretation of one of the said idol-demon.

notes of interpretation,

this interpretation of him will be a private muse : this means that abby will most likely be personally requested ( via IM or discord ) and thoroughly plotted out with respective rp partner for an interaction.

in addition to that, my portrayal of abby is intertwined with jinu — especially with my main jinu, portrayed by cam — wherein i've developed abby to have seen himself as jinu's second in command. in the case that you don't see similarly, please let me know; however, if you make no mention of disagreeing with this, i will move forward in any plotting with this particular storyline in mind !

on a more honest note : please, please don't be intimidated from interacting with him. i do want to explore him, but i'm just scared he might overtake zoey bc i'd like to still maintain her as my main focus of any kpdh attention ! and alsoooo i'm scared of putting him out there okie 👉👈 but please, do enjoy the read, and if you have any idea to throw at me, i'm all ears !!

origin story,

family — abby, born beom-su in the 1800s, to a couple of commoner parents. in truth, beom-su abby couldn't remember much of his parents. he knew that they were slightly older when they had him, and that their hands were roughened by their daily work. his father, a blacksmith; and his mother, who tailors and repairs clothes. beom-su had a few siblings as well, but aside from a few characteristics he remembers them sharing, he couldn't recall their names.

rising — miraculously, out of all his family members, abby had always shown remarkable strength and stamina. when he was around ten years old, he had already self-volunteered to train as a young guard and was quick to want to prove his worth further in anything militia. it took a bit of a scheme, but abby proved his worth towards a local scholar and writer, a member of a chungin group, and became apart of his private guard. there, abby's open curiosity to want to learn and continuously improve himself had earned him a bit of a leeway with the lonesome scholar, so abby was taught to read and write texts when he was caught during one his more mischievous attempts to read a (martial arts) scroll.

discovery — when he was around fourteen years old, abby saved a nobleman's daughter life, named kim ahra, when she was involved in a kidnapping. it was, quite possibly, his first encounter with something close to—as he looks back—a first love, but what was more important than that was the fact that kim ahra's father, took an immediate appreciation to abby. abby then was also similarly quick to befriend kim ah ra's older brother, taeyong, who is around a year older than he is. later, the kim clan, on the recommendation of the elder scholar who had already employed him, basically extended a patronage to sponsor abby into taking the official state military exam.

ascent to an elite lifestyle — eventually, though it'd taken him years between studying, preparations, and the date of the examination itself (which was administered every three years), abby passed, and was promoted quickly to an army officer. his prowess, quick-to-learn attitude, and open curiosity — which has been regarded as naive, but almost endearing — and the fact he was endorsed by the head of the kim clan himself, became his stepping stones as his name rose in whispers among josean's aristocrat — and it was further appraised when abby had led several successful blockade and even triumphs against rioters, leading to his eventual promotion in the capital, strengthening his position further among the yangban society.

downfall — abby's slow but assured climb into many elites' favour gained the envy and ire of taeyong, who grew insecure as his own ascent in the noblemen circle was not as politically strong as he'd predicted. abby's eventual engagement to kim ahra, his sister, sent him into further spiral. when their father was accused of an embezzlement scandal, which were true, it was taeyong — in his bid to earn his father's approval — who suggested using abby as a scapegoat. abby was imprisoned, not knowing he was betrayed, and pleaded with his future father-in-law that he will find who's behind this, that he will bring them to justice, and the kim's family name will be spared. it was one of his subordinates who'd told him later that his name was given by taeyong, himself. taeyong — his brother, his comrade-in-arms. how could this be ? but abby was prideful, and he believed none of it. until doubt trickled in. that was when a handsome man, older, aristocratic, began visiting abby. wouldn't you want them to pay for what they've done to you ? no, abby answered each time; angry, angrier. no! leave me be! the kim are an honourable family, and taeyong is my brother. they would not do this.

his soul — be it during an escape, a dramatic fight, or moments before the blade comes for his head, taeyong himself visited him. he revealed the truth, laughing at abby's face. do you really think we would allow a dirty commoner into our bloodline ? and suddenly abby's answer to the mysterious stranger's question is : yes, yes, yes. give me wrath as monstrous as an earthquake, fury as loud as thunder. let me exact my revenge. i give you my soul. and gwi-ma laughs and laughs and laughs. abby's pattern emerges instantaneously, a remarkable feat of transformation, and he kills the kim family, or at least the one residing in the capital, leaving ahra as a sole survivor. you're a monster! she told him last, shaken through the blood and the carnage left after he was done. i'm glad i didn't marry you! abby gave no last word. he left, into the waiting realm of gwima.

and so, let it be stated, that abby's reason to have sold his soul had been THE SIN OF WRATH.

in the demon realm,

demon, crossing path with jinu — abby abandons the earthly realm still angry and vengeful. for years and years, he kills nearly everything that sets him off even a little; these pertains to demons, mostly. ghosts. supernatural creatures. he meets jinu some time after thirty-years, disliking him instantly on principle ( aka that jinu looked smug ) and whatever bump-in he's had with the jinu is limited with arrogant quips and short comebacks. it wasn't until around twenty-some years later that he felt a sort of kinship with jinu, mainly because he can recognise that they're both solitary demons. eventually, they hunt together, walk together, share opinions and play matches together. abby learns about jinu's will to forget [his memories], his reluctance obedience to gwi-ma. he has respect for jinu's ambition to be free from his past; in a way, abby wanted the same too. out of this odd... camaraderie that they've shared, he finally address jinu as hyung.

abby's relationship with gwi-ma — abby recognises that gwi-ma is technically his lord, his owner, his king – and while he did gave his soul to the demon lord willingly, that did not mean gwi-ma had earned abby's respect, which he's also certain gwi-ma didn't need. but it worked. in the demon realm, abby might've had a chance of working himself high up to be some sort of general; he could be the extended command to gwi-ma's possible army, but he just doesn't. maybe such position is tied too closely to who he'd been on earth. so he never pursues anything higher. he watches gwi-ma commands and hungers, and he stays where he is, a companion to his hyung when jinu is in the mood, but otherwise left entirely to his own devices.

abby's wrath — abby's wrath, in my interpretation, is both his vice and his greatest weapon. gwi-ma could easily use it, as much as it could be used against gwi-ma, in the sense that abby's fury could override quite literally anything when he's on his path of exacting revenge or when he wants to demand justice.

the formation of the saja boys — when jinu first brought it up, abby was ... surprisingly agreeable to it. he volunteered to be in jinu's boy band, finding the prospect an exciting challenge, and when jinu inquired as to whether he can sing, abby ... well, he recalled singing softly to ahra once, a long time ago. he remembers faintly that his mother too had such a lovely voice. he doesn't divulge this to his hyung, only rolls his eyes and scoff. c'mon, hyung. haven't i sung your lyrics, before ? — later, he was the one who helped jinu identify the candidates for saja boys. the particular details of the discovery is truly up to each respective writers i am developing our storyline with, but i do believe jinu was the one to discover baby, while abby heard of romance and they recruited romance together ( ala charles xavier and erik lehnsherr in that first x-men movie. are u walking with me ? ) mystery though, he just showed up. it worked out.

abby's feelings as, well, abby — to be honest, he likes it! being abby was extremely different than who he'd been before. it was his chance to be ... someone else, with a different life, a different name, and a possible different upbringing. in this new persona, he was never betrayed. and, yeah, maybe being an idol fed a little on his vanity; he's always been easy to praise. but make no mistake, he knew what his role was : to feed gwi-ma, because this is part of the plan. this was his hyung's idea, and his hyung needs help. he wants to forget, and the saja boys can be his ticket to that. plus, abby has always been someone eager to fill a role — until his hyung's betrayal, when he went and sacrificed himself for a fucking hunter.

post-movie,

did he die ? — i've never portrayed abby as having been killed. i believe he was exorcised back to the demon realm, and as the pink honmoon restructured itself, it sealed him back to the other side. and he's angry. as angry as he'd been when taeyong and the whole of kim clan betrayed him, and might be angrier still. his wrath returns, and abby would claw his way out of the honmoon, until his own hands are bloodied and broken, just to get to jinu. just to demand of him justice.

verses available — (a) my main places abby after he'd clawed his way out of the honmoon and showed up at the penthouse, where he is detained and had been allowed to confront jinu after jinu sacrificed himself "for a human girl". it's messy and eventually he's imprisoned in the earthly realm by the huntr/x. this verse can exist along with other saja boys who've followed him. whatever happens afterwards can be up to each respective roleplayers i'm writing with. (b) alternate verses include simply that the saja boys were on the other side of the earthly realm when the honmoon was sealed and had to be under the close supervision of the huntr/x so they aren't up to anything fishy — in this verse, jinu didn't sacrifice himself. (c) anything that can happen before ... ? we'll figure it out, trust.

can abby develop any true feelings — who knows, my dude ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ok, in all honesty, i do think there is an earnestness to abby's behaviour, an almost naivety to his whole character. he trusts people quite easily, and falls in line to want to see their orders met once he trusts them. like a soldier to a king, which he was; which was where he first found his worth at all, right. but abby also grew up violently, or at least found a placement in violence and brutality. i don't think the severity of his fury was ever fully dealt with because in his original timeline, he was often in battle to expel them — until he wasn't. alright, yes, i understand this doesn't fully answer the question, but i am leaning towards a possible yes. he can develop true feelings, but those feelings probably come at consequences for him and the person he's fallen for. to what extent ? to be explored, really.

does he really like mira and/or any of the saja boys — the saja boys, yes, actually. not romantically, i think, because he sees them first as those he's served with, ala 'brothers-in-arms' more or less. he enjoys motivating them and engaging with them and even finding things out with them. he likes being mischievous and helping them, if they have a need; although if they're hostile, he has no problems being hostile too. they're demons, after all; they're creatures whose soul has been stripped from them. how much humanity truly is left ? as for the hunter ( mira ) – she's just a hunter. a means to an end. he doesn't mind bothering her, but he doesn't lose sleep over her, just as i believe mira wouldn't over him.

fun fact: abby referred to himself as 'abby' a lot, even in the narration of his past, rather than his given name beom-su, because in his anger, he's detached so much of himself from that life; he hated what his traitor has done to the beom-su they knew. for so long in the demon-realm, he's only ever been referred to as 'red / angry demon' or 'vengeful soldier' with few truly referring to him as his given name. in the light of jinu sacrificing himself for a human girl, which he sees as another betrayal, he miiiight reject the name abby. but we will see. i'll get back to u on this.

btw — quite literally any details about these can be discussed and/or altered with each respective roleplayers i am writing with !!!!! the core of abby’s character shall remain ofc, but other than that, everything’s fair game >:3
