I always felt that if they never met in good terms, Espio would have likely been one of the Sonic rivals and add the fact we barely seen them being friends. Like he is one of the vocal people that wanted Eggman dead with some like Shadow and Whisper.

It is understandable why Sonic doesn't want to murder Mr. Tinker but leaving him alone without being guarded is how it started especially chances that he might return even without Metal Sonic and Starline interference. With Metal Sonic only escape because Sonic left him be is his fault and no one knows who Starline is until the Metal virus arc.

Actually yeah! During the first arc Kaito was originally going to get lost in a blizzard, having tun away himself and then Bjorn and/or Oskar would find him there, and then also in the second arc (SPOILERS FOR ARC 2 WARNING) when the building collapsed on Espio and Vector after Espio got shot, originally he was going to be fine but killed one of the monkeys while fighting them (or one just died in the collapse) and Vector had a freak out on why he was so emotionless about it. I actually have the scene in my drafts lol.

Sorry this answer is late lol, but thanks for the ask! I might or might not reveal the details about their history, but a simple overlook is that Charmy’s biological family wasn’t in a good place when they had him. They could barely afford to take care of themselves and tried to find someone who would take him. I imagine that they gave him to their parents, who disapproved of their decision to even try when they were struggling themselves. They didn’t care for the baby and just dropped him off somewhere else, and then they passed him along until finally someone had enough and just tossed him into that alley.

Vector grew up in a pretty big family, and although he loves them his parents were often arguing and placing expectations on him and his brothers to have stable jobs and go the traditional route. They pretty much associated following your dreams with inevitable failure, but he was still determined to prove them wrong and open his own detective agency. They don’t talk much anymore, but he’s hoping that if his business grows big enough then maybe he’ll reach a point where they’ll have to admit that he succeeded and they can rebuild a relationship from there. As for right now he keeps them at arms length to avoid rejection and criticism, stubbornly committing to his work and blocking out any negativity.

Ooh, okay so my favorite Sonic characters other than the chaotix overall are probably Sonic and Silver! However some close seconds would be Shadow, Cream, Tails, Kit and Whisper. All of them are also in the IDW comics, and I absolutely love the comics and the characterizations there (I’ve had multiple sonic friends tell me that they think the Idw comics are terrible and out of character, but personally I don’t see it and think they give depth to the characters).
