Guide to finding a Role and Resonance
WORLDVIEW
What do they expect from their reality? -> Optimistic
Raz believes in himself strongly and always has faith in his heroes, the Psychonauts. He wants to be part of the cause because he believes that what they are doing as a unit is the best thing ever and he wants to be a part of positive change.
ROLE
1. Motivation of Actions
Why do they act? -> Altruism
Raz is always there to help others and is always part of a group because he is very other oriented. He is often found talking and hanging out with others because he cares deeply about their opinion and looks at his heroes for advice and stories. He also cares for his family even if they used to prevent him from doing psychic stuff.
2. Momentum of Actions
Where does their momentum come from? -> Active
Raz generates his own momentum. He runs away from home to pursue his dream, eagerly volunteers for dangerous missions, and proactively dives into people’s minds to solve their problems. While he receives guidance from teachers, he consistently takes initiative and pushes forward rather than waiting to be told what to do.
3. Mobility of Actions
What fuels and sustains their actions? -> Extroversion
He interacts with the world around him from his classmates, to his teachers and to Ford Cruller. He is often found talking to people and learning more about them as seen by the many dialogue options we have as a player. Razputin is always eager to learn from his surroundings and is rarely found sitting still.
RESONANCE
1. Preferred Environment
What kind of world do they thrive in? -> Systematic
Razputin thrives in systematic environments where he can learn and grow which is why he joined the Psychonauts camp for children. He believes in the cause of the Psychonauts and wants to be a part of the organization. When travelling the minds of the asylum patients, he often points out how absurd or unusual their minds are and tries to make sense of the worlds he visits.
2. Preferred Judgement
How do they evaluate situations? -> Logic
Razputin solves the puzzles within each of the minds he visits. He does not empathize or use emotional attachment to help those in need but rather he helps them through talking and figuring out what makes the patient's mind tick.
3. Preferred Understanding
How does reality become meaningful to them? -> Physical
Razputin does not wonder about the meaning and abstract definition of what it means to be inside a mind. He punches censors in the face and solves puzzles through active interaction with the "physical" environment within the mind.
INTEGRATION
How do they handle perspectives that challenge their natural Resonance? -> Integrated
INVERSE SELF: (P)EPI
(Pessimistic)Egoism-Passive-Introversion
When Raz’s optimism falters, he becomes more self-focused, reactive, and inwardly reflective. This is most visible when he runs away from home out of frustration and personal ambition, driven by emotional turmoil and a belief that his family is holding him back. He knows what he wants so he reacted the way he did towards his family.
OVERVIEW:
Razputin pursues his heroic dreams with enthusiasm and initiative. Extroverted, logically sharp, and physically engaged with the world, he throws himself into missions and relationships while seeking structure and growth within the Psychonauts organization. His pessimistic inverse emerges when doubt and family pressure cause him to turn inward and act more selfishly.
