Peer-to-Peer Class
“Individuals living with mental illness will be transformed from simply living with mental illness to actively advocating for themselves and taking charge of their recovery. Presented by trained consumers, the course is aimed at relapse-prevention.
Topics include individual relapse prevention planning, a debriefing/storytelling week and an advance directive for psychiatric care. The course meets for two hours once a week for 10 weeks.”

NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program
Available to: Adult family members who have a son/daughter/relative with mental illness who is age 18 or older.
A free 12-session course for family members and caregivers of persons with mental illness. Participants will walk away from this course with a more thorough knowledge of the clinical treatment of these illnesses and the skills necessary to cope more effectively. The Family-to-Family Class will be offered this Fall at the following locations:

NAMI Basics
Available to: Adult family members who have a son/daughter/relative with a mental illness age 17 or younger.
A free 6-session education course for parents and other kinship caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental health illnesses. The course is taught by trained teachers who are also parents/caregivers of individuals who developed the symptoms of mental illness in childhood. Â
Classes include: getting an accurate diagnosis, treatment options, communication skills, handling challenging behavior, and advocating for your child. The curriculum discusses current information about the major childhood mental illnesses and provides the fundamentals a caregiver needs to care for themselves, their family, and their child who is living with a mental illness.
