I imagine that those wagons not for llangollen would have been left in river siding, the line next to the running line, but even so it can not have been easy shunting loose coupled goods wagons in all weathers up and down that gradient, which curves to the left just at the edge of the shot , especially if they had to push any substantial number uphill and the rails were wet---not infrequent here the running line and river siding are on an ascending gradient from the station , so it is possible that the goods yard gradient is perhaps in reality not as steep as it looks in the picture though 6430 leaves llangollen as spring comes to the woods
