I decided I wanted to try and do “cowboy things.” Needless to say, I actually impressed myself with being able to do this several times in succession. . I’d be lying if I said that after this range trip, that I didn’t want to start carrying this setup around the house. If someone was to break in or try and cause harm, I’d just “fan” a mofo. . The revolver is a SAA in .45LC made by @pietta_firearms. It’s the stainless Great Western II model. . The holster is made by @galcogunleather and is truly comfortable. Queen Victoria takes the train . . 👑 On Wednesday 13 June 1842, at 12 noon promptly, Queen Victoria departed Slough station in Berkshire for Paddington in London with her husband, Albert, & her cousin, Count Mendorff, thus becoming the first reigning British monarch to travel by railway. . 👑 It was no ordinary train, for on the Queen’s instigation the royal coach had been specially built for her by the Great Western Railway. Not least because of the risk of assassination, which rail travel was thought to diminish, plans for the trip were drawn up in the utmost secrecy. . 👑 The journey took just 25 minutes & the Queen was delighted with its smoothness compared with the rocking of a coach travelling along a road at high speed to deter crowds from gathering. Thereafter rail travel became the norm for the Queen who, in 1869, commissioned a superior pair of rail coaches for the large sum of £ 1,800. . 👑 These were used for the annual late summer train journeys to Balmoral, during which the Queen demanded that the speed should not exceed 40mph (65km/ h) during the day, or 30mph (48km/ h) at night. . 👑 If the Queen chose to eat, then the train would halt, since she believed it was harmful to the digestion to eat whilst in motion.
