First day of 5K Runner complete!
I’m exhausted. My lungs are burning. And I’m pretty impressed with myself.
Set myself a new challenge for my runs this week. Usually I just focus on hitting half an hour of jogging but I've been pushing myself a tiny but more to keep going to reach 5k which seems to very slowly be improving!
Also, ya girl run a sub 30 minute 5k! This was a few runs ago and I’m although this is still my best time, I’m consistently getting similar figures. I don’t know where the sudden boost came from, but I’ve been trying to get to this for the past 5 years. On to the next goal!
Guys! GUYS!!!!! I FUCKING DID IT IN UNDER AN HOUR!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!!

My Next 5k
Zombies, Run! Halloween VR is coming up! And the training for the 5k is about to commence! So much to do these next couple of weeks. I will make time to train for this race. I want to run most if not all of it. With the right mindset and consistency i will be able to do just that. I am going to register for it at the end of the month!

Tempo workout to become a faster 5k runner
15 minutes warm up at “recovery pace”
recovery pace can be described as ‘conversational pace’; faster than a jog but you should be able to keep up a conversation during the run without struggle
about 60-90 seconds slower than your race pace
THE WORKOUT:
one minute on, one minute off
start with one minute at “tempo pace” or faster. this should feel instense but not quite as fast as your race pace. it’s been a while since i’ve done a 5k since i was injured in my last XC season, but my fastest 5k pace was a little under 7 minutes/mile and my average TEMPO pace during this workout was 6:30ish
run at recovery pace for one minute
keep switching ‘on and off’ between these paces with one minute of each. i did this 8x (each).
15 minutes cool down at recovery pace
