Another year means another chance at finally achieving your goals for your savings! Whether it’s for building up your savings account, your future travel plans, or future investments, setting specific savings goals and participating in the 52-week money challenge are a few ways you can challenge yourself to save up. The only rule to the 52-week money challenge is that you will have to commit to having compounded increments to the amount that you save weekly. This means that if you want to start the challenge with P100, on the next week, you need to add P200 to the jar, P300 on the following week, and so on. By doing so for 52 weeks, you can save up to P137,800!
The 100-peso challenge is what everyone would want to strive for, but seeing what you need to save weekly from July to December, opting to go with the P50 increments sounds ideal. You still end up with P68,900 by the end of the year.
But of course, recognizing that most of our spending happens during the -ber months and Christmas time, considering to do the reverse money challenge sounds like a more viable option. You get through the higher amounts to save first, and save less and less as weeks pass, making it much more easy to reach your goal amount. Here’s the reverse 20-peso money challenge, where you save up to P27,560 by the end of the year.
Learning to set aside your assigned savings prior to spending them on your daily wants and needs is tough, but it is a necessary life skill for better budgeting practices in the long-run. Here’s to smarter ways to saving money this 2017!Â

Have any of you ever tried the 52 week money challenge? I have been successful 2 years now and I truly believe in this. I was never able to save much before I started this but once you do it one year it really motivates you.
