Can we just….could we take a moment to imagine what would happen if they find Bucky, after chasing him for God knows how long all over...Europe I suppose, and Steve goes missing. All signs point to Bucky having accidentally killed him somehow? And we as the readers know that Bucky didn't do it, but he believes he has. Like, they find him and everything points to foul play and the worst part is, Bucky, who still only remembers bits and pieces of his past, but remembers Steve and needs Steve, misses him, thinks he may have killed Steve somewhere between getting followed all over Europe and wherever he ends up later, possibly with the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D.
And when he comes to that horrible conclusion, he just starts screaming like his soul is being ripped out (and it might as well have been)…because he can’t remember everything, just yelling, blood, and Steve's voice and pleading, and oh God, no please. It’s the most ragged, most wretched, most agonizing noise anyone has ever heard any creature make in their entire lives, and it manages to just break anyone who hears it. Because no one really knows if he did it, but he seems to think he did and there are people who believe he may have as well.
His memories are too scattered and he just can’t ….no, no, not Steve, not Steve, he didn’t mean to, he promised, he didn’t mean to, please, no, no, no, no, no, no….
