Function Rebound / Overdrive
Ok don’t hold me to this because this is just a theory of mine but I’ve noticed with the few people I’ve observed (including myself) in the grip who then come out of it there is sometimes a pattern of overcompensation of one of the first two functions as a result of coming out of the grip and this overcompensating can lead to unhealthy behaviors in the dominant and secondary functions while still keeping the function stack in relatively the Same order with an extra emphasis on the dominant or secondary functions. For example when I was in the grip a while back I was very cynical and displayed all the characteristics of an unhealthy Te - Fi grip but when I snapped out of it I realized that my secondary Ne seemed a lot more active in the sense that I was overly anxious about every little thing that came my way, not to mention my Ne formed a nice little impenetrable fortress of possible thought patterns to kinda protect my recovering Fi but now that my Fi is showing signs of being healthier these same patterns of processing information set in place by Ne are still there and are actually doing more harm than good. And before anyone says anything I do not believe that I transitioned from a grip to a loop because my Si isn’t any more active than it should be it still kinda operates in the background and only comes out when I need it and overall seems relatively healthy it’s just my Ne that is in overdrive. I’ve also seen it happen in others where when they start to come out of a grip they overemphasize their dominant function almost as if they are so relieved to have it back and are so impatient to use it again that they overindulge in it’s return and almost send themselves back into the grip in the process kinda like a rebound effect of some sort. I also noticed that usually these patterns tend to occur when someone in the grip experiences a major life event that kind of shocks them out of the grip and causes their functions to reboot as they are forced to rethink their way of life in a short span of time, kinda like a psychological A.E.D. Like I said this is just a theory of mine I don’t even have an official name for what to call this (rebound is just one idea and overdrive is another ) but if anyone else has had similar experiences with themselves or anyone they know I would love to hear more so I can gather more information on these patterns
