Here's a preview picture of Alice in Matchaland - a cute storybook interspersed with recipes from @mangauniversity! I even got a bottle of matcha while waiting for it to arrive. ๐ You can get yours here!
There'll be a more detailed review with some recipes from it coming up soon, so watch out for it!
i caved.
for almost 23 years, i have probably been the biggest advocate (that i personally know) of analogue photography since i was gifted my first SLR film camera, a Nikon FE, from my pops when i was 15. i just loved how much thought and work went into taking photos. not only did you have to meter the light, decide on the aperture, the shutter speed, the composition, the contrast, etc. of your photo, but you also had to be cognizant of how many shots you took. film limited the amount of shots you were allotted to take, so one had to be mindful whenever their finger pressed on the shutter release.
with digital, you could take hundreds of photos - dependent on the size of memory card you had, of course.
with digital, you could edit them to whatever you deemed them to look like post-opportunity. heck, with Photoshop, you could make anything look like something else that is completely unrelated. and now, i have heard that AI can edit your photos for you.
fruitcake.
but like i said before - "i caved."
i purchased a FujiFilm x100F. yes, it's a digital camera - with a fixed 23mm lens.
a couple months back, i took more than several moments (whenever i could) to reflect on the statuses i currently was existing in. i am doing ALL the things with Olive and Gaspard, i'm picking up extra shifts at flight (even a couple more at Mercy Gilbert), i'm reading up on articles about Autism, i'm planning trips throughout the year (Portland, Sacramento, Las Vegas and the Philippines), i'm counting macros constantly, i'm trying to find different foods Gaspard might potentially try and like that will qualify under his new diet, i'm shopping on Temu with Olive to find "rare" resins, i'm trying to save Rango's and Koshi's sanity from our mom's new fur addition - Koji, and then...the laundry.
it just waits for me...taunting me that it still isn't folded.
among ALL that (and that is just the topping, the sprinkles), i remember photography and how much i miss it. from time to time, i attempted to bring a camera (not including the one on my phone) everywhere with me like i used to, but now with two kids in tow and an extra backpack and lunchbox in addition to my tote and camera bag, it is much harder to take those film photo opps. not only do i have to put ALL the bags down, i now have to meter the light, adjust the settings to my camera, have a third eye on the kids and by the time i do - that photo opp is gone.
i felt that for me to really get back into photography with how hectic my life is now, the compromise was to find a solution that would allow me to take photos a bit more promptly.
the solution = a DSLR.
and i'm not gonna lie, the photos i've taken with them look pretty good! i'm slowly going through the user manual and i have yet to hit a quarter of the capabilities of this camera.
