“And you… have you consummated that marriage? How does that work?”

“I’m trying to become someone who deserves the second chance you shouldn’t have given me, but you didn’t need me to be around while I did it. I would have made myself scarce if I’d known you were coming this way.”

“Someone who really hates you. I was saved by someone who, it turns out, really likes me for some reason. We’re friends now.”

“I’ll leave it up to you. Call it a test.”

“Seeing you with your loved ones makes me miss my family for the first time in years. It seems you truly can be nostalgic for anything. Those freaks tried to sell me.”

“No, but I can’t forgive the people who did things to me, because they died before I could. I want to try forgiving and, to me, you’re low risk.”

“And they, what? Just assumed that you were planning to propose to me based on that?”

“We were entering the sixth month of our three day journey and spirits were as low as they had ever been.”

“Oh, good, you’re scared too. I wasn’t sure how to feel about the matter. It felt like blasphemy to be terrified.”

“The compassion is still a mystery though.”

“In a very short amount of time, you became more important to me than anyone I had ever met before, and I’m not sure which one of us has something wrong with them for that to happen.”

“Sorry, I’m not used to this. When I was a kid I just never listened to the adults around me, and they said the most heinous shit known to man. I didn’t expect that my kid would pay attention to my words and actions. It’s a little unnerving.”

“Oh… well it doesn’t seem to have stunted your growth at all. You’re much taller now.”

“Sorry, I’m late. I meant to be here earlier but then I got amnesia and ten years passed. I was at home and someone said… something, and then I remembered you were - well, I remember that I left you behind.”

“Well, what I want from your relationship is entertainment. And you’re at your most entertaining when you are a mess. You would be much better served by someone with your best interests at heart.”

“What did Eastern Europe ever do to you?”

“If I die before my team comes back to rescue us, can you make sure that they report that leaving me here was the only option? My captain is already not going to handle abandoning me, and my death would destroy him. I don’t want that. I want them to survive.”
