Sketching Chapter 2.4.5 - A Five-Franc Piece Falling To The Floor Makes A Noise
1. HE'S BACK BITCHES
2. Valjean trying to be inconspicuous brought attention to himself yet again. This time he was giving alms to a man he gave money to regularly, but rumour has it the man is a snitch, and this time it wasn't the old man under the hood it was... Javert!
3. Or at least he thought it was but no he must've been mistaken it couldn't have been Javert. But then he noticed someone was spying on him. Walking up to his door at night and so he stayed silent. The night after that he found it was definitely a man and not the landlady, and the silhouette gave it away that it was Javert.
4. When he talked to the landlady about the man he saw, trying to question her very casually after she mentioned a new tenant, she implied she knew who Valjean was and that Javert was after him. Although Javert used a fake name. It sounds like she is on Javert's side tbh. I honestly can't understand what Victor Hugo meant by her phrase. It's a different cultural space.
5. Oh Jean dropped a five-franc coin on the floor when grabbing his money fron the drawer. I don't remember why that's relevant??? Is it cause Javert will know there is someone in the room? Why didn't he question the landlady for that??? what kind of investigation is Javert running here? Is the landlady kinda sorta covering for Valjean??? so many questions
