Very glad I decided to go to this gig, even though I was still somewhat weakened by the stomach bug that had hit me a few days before. The fact that I felt much better afterwards is of course just another proof of music’s healing power. ;)
For someone who is as much into club music as me (i.e. not at all), it was a rather lengthy wait through the dj set until the gig started, but totally worth it. Son Lux’s music presents a perfect mixture of dreamy and upbeat dance parts which live are both endorsed by his expressive performance. Son Lux is a solo artist, but was supported on stage by a drummer and a guitarist, two excellent musicians who contributed a good deal to the amazing live experience. They played to a sold out venue and got a great reaction from the crowd – by the end, even those most reluctant to dancing had succumbed. Son Lux played two encores – solo, as the band hadn’t rehearsed any more songs together. After the gig, I got my ticket signed at the merch stand ☺
If I regret one thing, it is not having Lanterns included in my list of 2013’s top ten albums.
