Yeah no this is just quite tasteless. I don't know why you say the tip of the iceberg books are boring even though the books you want being shown in the public are genuine offensive material. I don't know why you(I bet you're white) would want some actually racist and pedophilic material showing in the public eye. Somebody needs to wipe this site off the planet
I got a couple of these recently, not sure why:
I don't think you actually understand what I'm doing.
So I'd like to point out a couple things:
I made an iceberg chart for suppressed books, based solely on how hard they are to find. Actual suppressed / "banned" books are almost always shocking and offensive, pretty much by definition.
I have NOT made the books on the iceberg chart available to ANYONE, although I easily could have. Notice that I wrote about books like Virginbride.net WITHOUT making it available. The very few that I did make available are of major, serious value to a wide number of people in many different fields, and I made sure to provide lengthy, detailed explanations for the context behind them.
Perhaps one day I will find a safer way to make some these works available, while putting them in the correct context, but right now I'm unsure of how to do so.
Documenting and discussing something is NOT the same as endorsing it. When we erase things that are offensive, we are falsifying the record of human experience, which can sometimes be profoundly dark. A culture that is unwilling to confront its own capacity for cruelty, delusion, or depravity can never hope to understand or restrain it.
There are many, many reasons to preserve and document disgusting, offensive literature. I list some of them in this post.
something that breaks my heart and boils my blood at the same time is seeing people strip will of the traits that made him will while simultaneously watching those same people inject him with traits that they want him to have; traits that Aren’t Will’s Traits. traits he was abused for not having……..
i think there’s a fine line between interpretation and complete annihilation of one’s character and it’s blurring more and more by the day.
will’s arc, conceptually, was beautiful. could’ve been written better, yes, that point has been beaten to death a thousand times. We Get It.
sorcerer wasn’t just about him accepting his love for mike or embracing his sexuality; it was him embracing EVERYTHING. everything that made him will byers. everything he was abused for having/being. everything people hated in him. everything people made him hate about himself:
his softness. his creativity and love for the arts. his kindness. his mannerisms. his sensitivity; anything that assholes in hawkins wouldn’t deem masculine enough. (and yes, his sexuality is a big part of it, too; the biggest part, even, but again- not the only part of it)
seeing people rip away what he grew to love about himself (and rip away what he STILL held onto after years of trauma and abuse) to make him fit their ship’s agenda, the image THEY want it to be… i thought we were past this lmao.
guess not.
(and sure. people can write, draw, etc. anything they want, but i think the more people stray from canon, the more alienation happens, the less engaging a fandom becomes, etc. it ruins an experience someone may have been hoping to have but can’t find due to everything feeling so.. ooc, if that makes sense)

Yes, Sabrina was racist.
"This is weird."
Yes. She was racist.
Her not knowing of Zaghrouta wasn't offensive. Her making a weird face after the fans tell her it's their culture and calling it "weird" is indeed offensive. It is not that hard to understand, is it now?
Before anyone tells me "it's not that deep" IT IS A BIT FUCKING DEEP TO CALL A CULTURAL ELEMENT WEIRD.
Before anyone tells me "the fans were being loud and disturbing her"...it's coachella. A place where people do drugs and do all sort of shit. Are you telling me a kind of chanting is the weird thing there? Coachella isn't a formal event where people have to be prim and proper. A lot of people travel to attend.
Sabrinas team removed posts online criticising her. That tells me a lot of her nature. Her apology was still lacking in my opinion.
I have been seeing many defend her and say they weren't offended....of course you weren't offended. Most of you defending her are western fans. White fans. *deep sigh*
