*sobs* Thank you! Honestly, you’ve kind of hit on why my shit is so long (other than, you know, not knowing when to shut up, a lifelong curse.) You could probably cut most of my work down into several traditional novels a bunch of different ways, but what I love about fic is that I don’t have to choose. I can write tropey stuff AND linger on the emotional ramifications, even if it goes against what the “market” would deem acceptable. The best.

Also, I feel like I need to confirm that I don’t always... endorse what I write for either Quentin or Eliot’s justifications on things. Like, for instance, here, I’m super glad you empathize with El—I do too!—but personally, I actually 100% disagree with his approach and I’m looking forward to untangling it. It comes down to the fact that I’m not a huge believer in perfectly linear growth and always want to explore that, albeit through a fairly tropey/romance novel adjacent lens. We like to have fun.
