pardon the interruption but
can we PLEASE talk about THIS???
He’s LITERALLY surrounded by his kids’ corpses. broken and battered. He’s surrounded by his legacy, his life’s work being destroyed.
and then, as for the second set of images:
think back to season one. Boxman was content running things by himself, being alone, not sharing much of his life with anyone. but in that scene? boxman, after informing us that he’d been left to keep things running by himself again in p.v.’s absence, is prompted with the question: “don’t you love it?”
and you know what he says?
To admit such a thing? As an invitation for forgiveness(almost)? To venomous? After all the shitshow? After venomous and tko destroyed so much of his life, his legacy?
Think about it. Boxman has lost permanently two of his children on account of those two, and stands surrounded by bits of countless others. as venomous had been gone, it’s likely that he kept his sorrows to himself without an outlet, swallowing his own thoughts because he wanted to keep whatever scraps of the happy life they had made alive, for himself and the rest of his family. He’s had to roll with the punches, the stress, the exhaustion. And yet, after all of that, he still believes in venomous and is willing to give him and tko a chance.
that’s a true sign that boxman is a man that’s grown, who learned to love after so many years of pain and torture, of failure and despising even the smallest utterance of friendship. consider the fact that boxman kept a calm, respectable demeanor during their entire talk, even, perhaps more importantly, before he went into the room. for someone who is known for becoming consumed with rage, that in itself is a fantastic testament to his character.
i don’t know what Ian has planned for the finale in 4-5 weeks probably but I’d love to see how boxman’s incredible character arc manifests itself in the finale. he’s clearly been through a whole fuckin lot and I’m hoping it’s not wasted. there’s a reason he’s listed as a main character.
