while i’ve said before that i don’t think every jedi within the order was entirely morally corrupt, i do think the prequels exist in part to further exemplify how important it is for the prophecy to be fulfilled with the help of someone who wasn’t a member of the order and was able to find the balance between compassion and attachment on his own, through self-reflection rather than through the infliction of severe beliefs that are hard to follow and – in my opinion – not designed well for humans (as i’m sure some of the various non-human jedi had no trouble carrying on the traditional values, due to differences in needs and desires; however, humans are by nature social and to be cut off from family and discouraged from creating bonds with people, even if healthy, is bound to lead to difficulties).
luke’s strengths as a jedi are underscored by his relentless love and sympathy for others. had he been in the order, he might still have become a great jedi, but i doubt he would’ve been able to turn anakin back to the light side and aid in the completion of the prophecy. there’s an irony in how the jedi order separated younglings from their families in order to train them, yet the prophecy is fulfilled because of the love between a father and son.
