Year(s) in Review: a witcher fic rec list
I haven’t made a full rec list in a long, long time, but *PR manager voice* “in these unprecedented times” I wanna make note of some of the fics that really stuck with me. I watched the witcher and started reading witcher fic in January of 2020, just a scant bit of time before we entered quarantine. I mention this to say that this fandom, and all the amazing fanworks created within it, have been a lovely source of reprieve from all of the strangeness and abject terror. So here’s to a little light in the darkness and in the hopes of completely precedented times to come.
(Note: this list is organized completely subjectively and, to some extent, in the way I found most amusing. I tried to ask myself, “What makes me love this fic?” and then grouped the fics by those characteristics. This ended up resulting in a list grouped about half by trope and half by theme, with some consideration given to vibes for good measure.)

An All-Consuming Creature by RebrandedBard (@rebrandedbard) [J/G, J&C] - a cautionary tale about the dangers of Improper Capitalization. (an epic about believing in a steadfast and pure love even in times of desperation and corruption.)
Long Live the King by stockholm_syndrom (@thedaywasnew) [J/G, Ensemble] - there are many ways to be overpowered, and not all of them involve magic. some of them involve a working knowledge of grains and a very, very big heart. long live the king indeed.
