Both brows raise at the unexpected question, and not because he thinks Seifer is suddenly interested in the inner goings-on of his mind, but because it seems that should be a question he needs to ask the blonde. “Doesn’t matter.” Squall says, refusing to meet brilliant cyan of those rebellious eyes. “How are you?” You must hate being back in this place. I know the feeling.
People thought him strange for not recoiling in horror from the sight of Seifer Almasy, Sorceress Knight, war criminal, but that’s just not him. There’s no denying that some truly terrible things had been done via the older man’s hands, and yet grudges don’t sit well with the lion, he wants to let the past go. “Any problems, I mean?” If so, Squall will see to it personally that they are ended. Seifer is suffering well enough without all of Balamb Garden to add to it. He doesn’t need or deserve any more grief.
“Do you ever wonder how different our lives would have been if we weren’t----orphans.” Though technically he is no longer an orphan, not that he intends to do anything about it. But the question itself is a big one, something that he can only ask another who knows what it’s like to be unwanted by the world. Edea had loved them well enough, but this war even tainted that somehow. It silently pains him to see Seifer like this when there’s still so much potential left running in those wild veins.
