Spring Bookshop Trip

So maybe this is me just ranting. But earlier this month I watched a video of a white woman crying and she was saying how she was at a BLM protest in America and the police were using tear gas, and physically hurting anyone of colour so people began to scream if you’re white get to the front. So they did and suddenly the violence stopped. And she was saying how disgusting it was to actually see the prejudice and different treatment given by the police. So I told my mum about this saying how horrid it was that they are using such brutal forces and are explicitly being racist through their behaviors and my mum seemed shocked as well. Later that week however, when meeting with some family my mum brought up this and said how protester are being “sneeky” about the whole thing. I called her up on it and I couldn’t get my head around it. How were these protesters being “sneaky”?? They were simply doing what was needed to help protect our brothers and sisters when armed forces were against them. What is sneaky about that?? And to top it off it was a peaceful protest as well. My mum likes to argue saying that protesters are becoming violent and using that as an excuse but this was a PEACEFUL protest. I can only recall what I this woman had said on this video, but we need to be kind. We need to be understanding. Even if protesters are violent you can see why. So many people are being killed and it isn’t right. Our brothers and sisters need us and what do we do when they call for our help?? Look them dead in the eye and tell them they did this to themselves? NO BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T We are all trying to make a change calling for those around us join us to help fight this battle that shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Please just listen please help when you can and share information, have important conversations with your families. Just because #Blacklivesmatter isn’t trending anymore doesn’t make it any less important
