I want to see the storyboarding for this or some behind the scenes commentary from the creators/writers because this undertaking must've been massive.

The intricacies, the timelines they had to keep track off - I'm impressed.

Will need to do a rewatch immediately.

Imagine still being able to surprise the audience in the finale while making it all still make sense.

I'm gonna be thinking about these characters, these dynamics for a long time.

(I CANNOT find a Ramse gif in the search for the life of me - I know he's conspicuously missing; trust me it's not on purpose 😭)

Someone worded this better than I could - the beauty of Antony’s Starr’s portrayal of Homelander is that he had no other performance / interpretation to base it off of.

He had the comics (bad and also different) and a vague “Superman but evil”. He had to (or rather got to) craft the character into his own vision of who Homelander should be, with very little to go off of.

Every choice made is Starr’s interpretation to who Homelander should be.

Kripke even said by season 5 Antony was deciding most of the character moments for Homelander that Kripke had forgotten about - for example it was Antony who added that Homelander would try to impress his dad by drinking bourbon, because at the end of the day Homelander himself is still a child seeking approval. That kind of brilliance was all Starr, with very little influence or direction, at least in the beginning.

It would not be wild to say Antony Starr’s Homelander rivals Heath Ledger’s Joker as the best superhero villain in filmed history. That isn’t to say he *wins* necessarily (obviously it’s hard to compare a 5 season show vs. 1 movie).

With the long weekend coming up, (For us Brits at least!) I thought I'd throw out a recommendation for those of you looking to binge watch the 3 days.

12 Monkeys, is simply brilliant from beginning to end. (And what an ending!) This is the first show since... well Xena that I've actually watched all the way through back to back. It's that good. A great cast, great pace and have I mentioned the ending?

At around 47 episodes it's perfect for the long weekend and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

It's currently on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Youtube for your viewing pleasure.

There's no denying that he is a masculine person. The ultimate ideal of what a man is. He's played by Richard Dean Anderson, the man semi-responsible for the term "MacGuyver" being part of our everyday lexicon.

But as a man, he doesn't fit the modern ideal of masculinity. He doesn't have a six pack. He's of average height. He's in his 40s, with greying hair and wrinkles. You don't get to be a Colonel in the Air Force and stay a fresh faced 20-something. Overall, he just looks like some guy you'd see down the pub. Not making a podcast on how men need to be dominant.

On the surface O'Neill appears to be emotionally unavailable who uses his humour as a defence mechanism. This is partly true, but it's not the whole story. His humour is a defence mechanism to stop himself from being overwhelmed by everything that has happened to him as a career soldier.

When it comes to those under his command, he's compassionate. He asks for advice and ideas from his team before offering anything of his own. He LISTENS and pays attention!! He's willing to offer hugs when needed. He's good with kids, giving an adorable shiba Inu to a girl in mourning to provide her with emotional support and joy. His advice is often to try to be friendly and smile. He never tells anyone to suck it up and get over it, and if he does tell someone to put their feelings aside it's so they can focus on saving lives.

He sends Daniel a tissue box as a message that he needs contact, rather than an intrusive probe.

Episode SIX we also see him (well, a crystal that had taken over his form) sitting in a ball, clutching the pillow of his dead son, crying his eyes out. You would NEVER see that in a modern day drama that early on.

This was made in 1997, and yet I am left with the intense feeling that we need to have more characters like Jack O'Neill around today. We need more men who want to emulate his version of masculinity. The kind who attends his doctors appointments, listens to what she has to say, and will follow her orders as a medical professional.

We need more men whose character is partly defined by his complete lack of knowledge. He regularly says "I don't know about this so I'm going to ask Captain Samantha Carter about it."

if you go back and look at frenchie's letter, you'll notice that there's a paragraph before he starts his last will and testament, addressing hughie as one of the people he trusts most and giving him instructions to make proper arrangements for his burial, including giving everyone drugs and getting them high while playing his selected music playlist as his last will and testament is read.

There are angels in the sky, some kind of Demon Cupid with horns, outter space, stars, a planet and a big heart with wings. There was a frame when Asa was running after Crowley where the latter has his back turned and his body completely blocks the heart out of view, leaving only the wings as if they were his own.

It's so cute the part with the planet is right on Crowley's side since he loves space so much and everything related to it 🪐

And on his side, Asa's head is blocking the angels and the Demon Cupid, only leaving a wing and the halo visible, with the halo being way too close to his head 🥹
