No one cares about this but me but I'm currently feeling like I'm betraying myself in ways I never thought I could. Imagine doing a passion project where you've already established the main couple of it and said project is already 9 years old, but back when it was at 5 years old you created another character to join the protagonists. We forward back to the 9 years of existence and you decide to jokingly think "haha what if this nearly new character started dating the main character instead?" and suddenly you realize you had a galaxy brain there because... because........ you like it more than the established couple from the beginning.

I'm still thinking of this and I keep wondering whether any other story have ever done this kind of twist? Where you have a main couple pinning for each other then they get together and later on another character is introduced (who happens to be a friend of one of the partners btw!!) and then that ends up being the actual love interest of the main character?

I believe you're most likely to see it in TV shows but usually the main couple that was established in the beginning gets back together by the time the story is over. And this isn't what I'd do here. It gets me going because something you need to know about how I write stories is that I LOVE breaking expectations and/or the norm, so this kind of twist is very much up my alley!!

#what's also interesting to note is how this sudden change is just another change of perception of my part #re: ships where one is completely obsessed with their partner to the point it's kinda toxic/possessive #I love ships like that to a certain degree #but over time I noticed how the type of obsession I was writing for this couple here was kind of... annoying? I know it made me worry that #potential fans of SAB would hate this character (aka. Edith) because of her attachment issues #tbh kelldith was always toxic. I always knew it lol #I learned to write “obsessions” that feels a bit more healthy in comparison (while writing another ship that I also really like)#so it led to me believing Kellen deserves better #AAAND that's how we got here!#it feels more organic to me because Edith being the way she is could easily be linked to her militaristic environment #it would be another room for me to make an obvious critic to the armed forces which was always one of the main points of SAB!#I think if I were still interested/motivated enough to write the story I'd make it ambiguous on who Kellen ends up dating by the end idk
