Have you ever seen brown eyes in the sun? You don’t always notice it at first but you’ll see that ‘brown’ no longer describes them. They melt into golden rays, circling an eclipse. There’s nothing boring about brown eyes, not even when the later hours encroach; they just turn into a sunset of their own.
she’s 23 and she didn’t know she had a vagina until 5 days ago
This is why we don’t do close readings of 50 Shades of Grey.

"Joshua Beckford learned to read fluently by the time he was two and a half and taught himself to touch-type on a computer before he could write using a pencil. He can speak Japanese, practices medical surgery on a computer simulator and has completed more than 1,000 maths problems.”
Can we please reblog our children!!!

Black. Excellence.
This amazing little boy who plans to be a neurosurgeon and an astronaut, the youngest person to ever attend Oxford University, is “the face of the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority (BME) campaign.” (And his father and he discuss what it’s like to living with autism [or with an autistic kid]).
We tried to boop but there was a critical boop fail that turned into gentle chin rubs.
This is adorable.

hope this isn't too much, but what are some of the traits you look at when distinguishing a wolfdog from a dog? For example, long pointed ears are not a wolf trait, while shorter rounded off ears with more fur is?
No no, you’re fine =] This will be kind of long though, haha, and it’s not even covering everything I look for… But yes! That is one major trait I look for. Tall and thin and pointed ears without much fur on the inside/outside are all doggy traits while shorter, rounder and more furred ears are wolfy traits. *Some dogs do have shorter ears, and some dogs do have more furred ears though, as you can tell in the differences between the husky and shepherd below. Though neither of them have ears similar to the wolf.
The above images are also an alright example of eye shape/position and color. Dogs have very rounded eyes while the eyes of a wolf are much more almond shaped. I’m not really sure how to explain what I see next because I’ve tried with people in person and most don’t know what I’m talking about but I’m going to try to explain it >_> if I were to draw “eye brows” on these canines where it feels like they would be naturally, to me, it looks like both dogs would have theirs tilted up, like they’re excited and interested in something, while the wolf looks like they’re angled down in a much more serious expression. They have a much stronger appearing gaze than most domestic breeds and you can see this gaze in wolfdogs as well:
(mid-content wolfdog)
I also look at the animal’s profile(when I can). Dogs have a very angular face when compared to a wolf. Of course some sight hounds, and other breeds, have a smoother shape to them but I don’t see anyone confusing sight hounds(or their mixes) with wolfdogs so I left them out and included the most common breeds in this ask. First, you can see just how long the muzzle and face of a wolf is and how straight it is when compared to a dog’s. Both the shepherd and the Malamute show the common bends and angles that you see in domestic breeds. Also the slope of the forehead is much more severe in dogs when compared to the wolf. You can also see very little droop in the jowls of the wolf while both the Malamute and the shepherd have very visibly droopy jowls.(That was fun to say out loud actually. Sorry, I am still 5 sometimes.)
The above image of the a wolf also shows a bit of the “mane” they have. You can see the difference in the length of fur from the face to the neck, that is very well defined in wolves and you see it in wolfdogs as well:
(low-content wolfdog)
There are also differences in body shapes/builds of dogs and wolves. Dogs generally have shorter legs in comparison to their bodies, broader chests, longer tails, smaller and more compact feet and an even coat all over. Wolves are leggy animals and their tails are not overly long. Also, while shepherds and huskies are in motion, their tails tend to curl upwards while a wolf’s generally won’t unless they’re purposefully using their tail to convey a certain message.
The coats vary in color and in texture all over a wolf’s body and they have banded fur(each individual hair has a few different colors per strand). It lies on the body differently than a dog’s fur does. Their fur makes up a pattern that outlines a “v” shape draping down their backs called a dorsal cape(not to be confused with the black saddle of a GSD. That is coat color, not a real change in fur pattern/length.). Some capes are more readily noticeable than others. On black wolves it is still there but harder to see. The dorsal cape starts behind the shoulders and comes to a point on the mid back.
Dorsal cape:
It is noticeable even on a white wolf. Also notice that it’s not solid white. Solid black and white wolves are never really solid. They will have various browns, yellows, and grays even though they appear white/black.
Wolves will not have pink/liver colored noses or light paw pads and nails. Huskies often have a partial “snow nose” and some white nails with mixed black and pink pads while a wolf’s will be black.
Also, being born solid white is a dog trait, along with any well defined markings at a very young age. Wolves are born a uniform grey/brown/black with subtle changes over the pup. Even the white Arctic wolves are born a solid dark color!
They have NO well defined markings when they are newborns. So when people show off these and claim them to be “half wolf dog hybrids”
I know they’re lying.
These are only a handful of the things I look for, but these are the things I look for first. Other things are visible scent glands, how the animal stands(the position of their back legs), how they carry their head and tail while in motion, ect. I really do need to make a large and thorough list in my FAQ one day soon -__- it’s just going to take forever.
