SHE’S TOO GOOD FOR ALL OF US

“Were that the case, I would have killed you when you walked through my door.”

She kept her eyes focused on the appendage behind him, the snake-like movement of the head of the stinger weaving back and forth, hanging on him as a reminder for her failure.  She trusted him to keep to his word, and he didn‘t.  He failed, which meant she failed and she could not afford failure. The goddess reached her palm out, an instruction for inspection and felt the weight of the stinger — or lack of — hit her hand and her lithe fingers rolled it over her palm and the underside of her skin.

“He has done good work, the good doctor. Hasn’t he.”

     tyrian ducks his head a bit at her scolding, quickly reaching his tail out to her for her inspection instead of verbally responding to her admonishments. he  m o u r n s  the fact that he can no longer feel the chill of her touch on his exoskeleton, wishing briefly for the return of his organic tail. “y-yes, he has, your grace.” tyrian agrees, nodding his head. “and i would expect nothing less.”

Her eyes snapped to his when he mentioned his name.  Few could speak about the great doctor like she could, and even less could say his name as casually as Tyrian had.  He had lost that sense of informality between her circle.  Even with Hazel, it was a development in the making.  Push him away to bring him closer.  She turned the stinger in hand, looking at the venom within and a hint of a smile came from the corner of her mouth.  Good.  Arthur was doing good work.

Very rarely have Grimm of this caliber been observed. With what little information mankind has, the general consensus is that they are scientifically altered, not born. Naturally, this leaves researchers stupefied. How in the world is something like this possible? Moreover, who is genetically manipulating a Grimm’s genes in this way? Regretfully, we are left with more unanswered questions than we’d like.

These Grimm are said to bear multi-colored crystals — presumably Dust — as well as their traditional skeletal spines and armor. This further implies that mankind is the culprit behind the creation of these Grimm.

Mutated Grimm also die a much more dramatic death, simulating a contained explosion which can severely injure anyone attempting to kill it. One field researcher noted that these Mutations hardly attack a human. They simply charge. He even went as far to say that they willingly let the Huntsman or Huntress attack them, suggesting this breed of Grimm possess the same level of intelligence as older generations.

Aquatic Grimm ( Grimm Aquāticus ) are a large subspecies of Grimm that reside entirely in bodies of water. Not much is known about these creatures, as it is extremely difficult to observe them in their natural environment. Furthermore, capturing aquatic Grimm proves to be more difficult than terrestrial Grimm, as Huntsmen and Huntresses are at a severe disadvantage in the ocean, and it is nearly impossible to simulate a stable living environment.

Only a few aquatic Grimm have been identified.

Balæna Aquāticus   ( The Orcus )    — A large whale-like creature that predominantly lives in salt-water; presumably travels in pods; and, reportedly devours smaller Grimm for sport.

Sigillum Aquāticus   ( The Riptide )    — Significantly smaller than the Balæna, its sleeker body allows it to swim and attack at great speeds, and even generate very fast currents; travels in large pods; bears claws at the end of its flippers and wickedly sharp teeth.

Lophiiformes Aquāticus   ( The Angler )    — The smallest of the three, but arguably the most grotesque; their large jaws and jagged teeth suggest that they are adapted from the Balæna; and, some have reported seeing a bioluminescent growth dangling from its head, but that detail is still uncertain.

The question made her stop, the soft rumble of nearby Grimm standing at the odd influx of emotions.  They could taste it, feel it all around.  Confusion, that rise in elation and hatred.  She turned, eyes fixed on the figure.
