I really think historical USAmerican queer activism shat the bed by focusing on marriage equality and not bodily autonomy

It wasn't really a 'mistake' per se, except in thinking the majority of wealthy gays funding it actually had any solidarity. They sought marriage rights bc legal marriage is an important financial instrument, once they were secure in their positions it was right back to class solidarity above all.
