Seth often emphasized that human beings get trapped thinking their everyday ego is their entire identity. To channel, you have to temporarily step aside from the "outer ego" (your daily worries, logic, and self consciousness) and give the "inner ego" or higher self room to speak.

Practice entering deep, relaxed states of meditation where you intentionally observe your thoughts without identifying with them. You are building a psychological buffer zone where your daily persona can sit quietly in a corner while another stream of consciousness takes the wheel.

Jane Roberts actually wrote a book titled How to Develop Your ESP Power before the Seth sessions took over completely. She believed everyone has "inner senses" that project physical reality.

How to do it: Pay attention to sudden flashes of intuition, vivid imagery just before you fall asleep (hypnagogic states), or thoughts that feel like they have a different texture or voice than your own internal monologue. Don’t dismiss them as "just imagination." In the Seth philosophy, imagination is the blueprint of reality.

Jane didn’t sit down and demand a cosmic master appear. She and her husband, Rob, were experimenting with a ouija board for a book project when the communications first began. Eventually, Jane felt a physical impulse to speak the words aloud, bypassing the board entirely.

How to do it: Use a tool to lower your analytical mind's resistance. This could be a pendulum, automatic writing (letting your hand type or write without conscious planning), or a voice recorder where you speak whatever comes to mind without filtering it.

This is the mechanical state of the channeler. You aren't asleep or unconscious (Jane often sat in a rocking chair, sometimes sipping wine or smoking, perfectly awake but in a trance). You are alert, but entirely passive. Youre listening to an internal dictation and letting it flow through your vocal cords or fingers without analyzing it in real time.

Matter isn't actually solid. Seth describes physical reality as a sort of hologram or camouflage that our physical senses construct so we can operate in a 3d world.

Time is not linear (past -> present -> future). Instead, Seth claims all times exist simultaneously. You are living your "past" and "future" lives right now.

Earth is essentially a learning ground or a "three dimensional school." We come here to learn how to handle consciousness and successfully transform our thoughts into physical form.
