And I still see some of yall say ‘make this fic into a character ai pls!’
WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF WATER
Get off those god forsaken generative ai apps or you will go down with those who care
Especially those of you in the fanfic community, you steal your own work by going on c.ai and simultaneously kill us
For those who don’t know, ai takes from fresh water to cool its computer systems and the water can’t be recycled. ChatGPT alone uses 500 million gallons of water a day, and the AI industry used more water last year than the plastic water bottle industry. It also produces nothing original and takes from artists and writers alike.
Please resist and fight against this, it will only change if there is a collective effort ‼️‼️‼️

(Lucas Sinclair x Reader)
You had been Best Friends with Lucas Sinclair for what felt like forever. You don’t remember a time in your life where he wasn’t by your side. He was there when you got your first dog. When you learned to ride a bike. Your first DnD campaign with the others. He was even there when you had your first crush. It just so happens that your first crush was Lucas. He didn’t know though. He just assumed that it was someone in your guys’ class. He would bug you every single day to figure out who it was but you never let up. You couldn’t. You were friends. Best friends. If you told him… what would change?
So you made the decision to never tell him. You couldn’t risk losing him over some selfish feeling in your stomach that only happened when he was around. When he opened the door for you, walked home with you, when your hands brushed together, or on those late nights when you would stay up late talking to each other over your walkies.
You woke up this morning expecting it to be like every other day. You’d wake up, do your morning routine, ride to school with Lucas, go through the long day of class after class, and then walk back home with Lucas. Sure there was some other stuff thrown in here and there but that was what is mainly on your list. But when you got woken up by rocks getting tossed at your window way earlier than you needed to get up, your whole routine was thrown off course.
You sleepily dragged your feet along the floor as you walked over to your window, you opened it as you wiped the sleep from your eyes. You looked down below to see Lucas standing there, getting ready to throw another rock up but then he saw you and lowered his arm. “Lucas? What are you doing here?” You said tiredly, you had just woken up. You still weren’t fully conscious.
“Get dressed. Come on. We have plans.” He said in a hushed but serious tone. Had he told you something and you forgot? Did you forget you had plans with him?
“Plans? What plans?” You sat down on your window sill, your back up against the window frame as your knee was pulled to your chest. You looked down at your pajamas and realized just how embarrassing they were.
“Plans that I planned for you. Now are you gonna come or not?” He looked up at you with his signature smirk.
You rolled your eyes but a smile adorned your face anyway. “Yes, I’m coming. Do my parents know?” You asked, trying to get information out of him. Trying to figure out why he was throwing rocks at your window.
He looked down at his watch, checking the time. “Yeah, they know everything. Now listen, hurry up. You’re gonna be late.” He looked around as if he was waiting for something.
You nodded before standing, “I’ll meet you out front.” You closed your window and drew your curtains tight before getting dressed. You didn’t know what this was going to be but if he had plans you had to dress somewhat nice. You didn’t bother with any makeup or anything, you knew it would take too long and Lucas was always very impatient. You rushed down stairs the second you were ready, calling out to your parents to tell them you’d be home soon and were going out with Lucas. Shutting the door behind you, Lucas was standing on the bottom step holding out a flower for you. You accepted it graciously, taking a big whiff before placing it behind your ear for safe keeping.
He smiled before talking out his plan, “Okay listen, I’m really busy today but I need you to go do something for me.” Your eyebrows curled in confusion as he handed you a piece of paper. “Just… Follow the signs, okay?” You nodded as you accepted the letter. He gently brushed a strand of hair out of your face before walking off to his bike and riding off somewhere.
You opened the letter carefully, not wanting to rip it or damage it in any way. When you unfurled it, you saw your name in Lucas’s messy yet familiar writing with a cryptic message underneath that only said, ‘Do you remember the day we first met? -Lucas’ It had been years since you and Lucas met. You remember the day, where you sat, the words he said to you.
You were sitting in the second grade. You haven't made any friends yet. You were new. No one wanted to get to know you. But when this little boy with a big smile and messy hair walked up to you and sat down next to you, you knew you didn’t need to get to know anyone else. “Hi, I’m Lucas Sinclair. I really like your bracelet. Red and Blue, like Superman. Or Wonder Woman. Or Spiderman.” He sat there the rest of recess talking to you and explaining everything he knew about these superheros. When you got home, you begged your mom to take you to the comic book store so you would have something to contribute to the conversation.
It didn’t take long for you to ride your bike to the elementary school down the street. You rounded the fence to find the playground and saw Dustin sitting on the swing, swinging absentmindedly as he waited for you. You hopped the fence, “Dustin?” You walked over and sat down on the swing next to him. “Do you know what this is all about?” You asked as you used your feet to gain a little momentum.
“Strict orders. I’m meant to tell you nothing. All I’m meant to do is hand you this and send you on your way.” He slowed his swinging down, before reaching in his back pocket and pulling out a piece of paper, holding it out for you to grab. When he walked away, leaving you alone on the sad swingset, you opened the letter, reading the same writing as before, ‘Star Wars is and always will be the best movie franchise. -Lucas’ You smiled and hopped back over the fence, climbing on your bike as you rode down to Family Video. You still had the “argument” on repeat in your head. You and Lucas roamed the aisles, pointing out movies you had and wanted to watch.
You parked your bike outside, leaning up against the wall. The door jingled as you stepped in, Steve Harrington leaned over the counter in his signature stance. He perked up just slightly as you opened the door. “Ahh, yes, that's today. Okay, let's see.” He stood up, running a hand through his hair as he thought for a minute, “Oh yes, okay. I’ve been informed by one idiot that if I say anything I am officially dead. So instead, I choose life.” He bent down underneath the counter, searching for something. He hit his head on the top which made you laugh. “Shit. Not funny, dingus. Take your shit and get out of my store, okay? Tell Sinclair I’m not doing him any more favors.”
He handed over a movie, The Princess Bride. You smiled as you opened the case, the letter sitting right on top. You took it and opened the letter, ‘“As you wish.” Well you know what I wish?” -Lucas’ That was it? That was all it said. You jumped up onto the counter even though Steve definitely protested. It thought long and hard, racking your brain just to figure out where it was. You turned and looked at Steve with pleading eyes. He fixed you with his own look, one that said Nuh uh, no way. But the longer you gave him puppy eyes, the more his walls came down. He sighed and rolled his eyes before nodding softly. Steve always tried to put up a hard front but he could never keep his defenses up when it came to you and the group. “If you tell Sinclair I told you this, your ass is grass, kid” He paused before giving it away, “The fountain. You know? Like a wish? Flip a coin.” You leaned over and gave Steve a big hug before running out of the store yelling a thank you behind you.
You rushed off to the fountain, there was no specific memory you had attached to Lucas and this place. Other than the fact that you’ve tossed tons of coins in there wishing for the same thing. Lucas.
As you rolled to a stop, you saw Lucas, faced away from you. He had a fancy suit on which made you feel a little bad for dressing down. He was bouncing on the balls of his feet in anticipation and waiting. You smiled as you slowly set your bike on the floor, not wanting him to know about your presence yet. You walked up slowly before tapping him on the shoulder gently. He immediately turned around, facing you with a smile. You took sight of him, his hands were full of a full bouquet of flowers. The same kind that was tucked behind your ear. He handed them to you before speaking softly, “Hi.”
It was something so simple but it made the knots tighten in your stomach, “Hi.”
“You, uh, you made it.” He said nervously as he searched your face, making sure you were okay.
You nodded with a smile, “I followed the signs. But uh… I gotta ask. Why the fountain?” You inquired as you turned to gaze at the fountain, the water flowing down and pooling at the bottom.
“Well I thought maybe you’d like to be here for my next wish.” He stepped forward, pulling a penny out of his pocket.
“Lucas, did you really just make me run all over town just to watch you toss a coin into water?” You said teasingly but the anticipation was killing you.
“Shh, no talking while I make my wish.” He said jokingly which you could tell by the smile he gave. You watched as he closed his eyes, holding the penny tightly. “I wish, for the 1095th time, for Y/N Y/L/N to be my girlfriend.” He kissed the penny softly before tossing it gently into the fountain. You watched the penny sink to the bottom before you turned to look at him with wide eyes. He smirked softly, “Well?” He asked quietly. You nodded before quickly hugging him, making sure the flowers were safe. He chuckled as he held you tightly, spinning you in a circle. When he finally set you back on the floor, you wrapped your arms around his neck, gazing up into his beautiful eyes. “As you wish.” You said softly before leaning softly and pressing a soft kiss onto his lips.
