Wanted to depict a domestic moment between them that was meant to be playful and sweet. I think my favorite kind of arts of them and the ones that I automatically draw are the ones where they show a lot of affection for each other. Loid and Yor are so emotionally detached because of all they've gone through in their lives, that I feel like they deserve to show each other with love.

I sound like a broken record, I always say the same thing. Sorry I'm not good with words.

I love the idea of Yor and Loid having the same mission but I think we are all missing the potential of them having the same mission but not knowing it

It did, however, follow one tradition. The inside cover art has always mirrored the outside's, and since Volume 4, they've all shown all shown us the cover characters' real selves, not the one they project to the world. Yuri is a suave, have-everything-together man on the outside... and a completely unhinged person with murderous intent on the inside. Nightfall is a cool, collected woman on the outside... and a completely unhinged person with murderous intent on the inside. Huh.

In both, it's very clear that the unhinged person on the inside is the one honest about what they want - for Yuri, it's for his brother-in-law to die and/or divorce his sister, preferably both, in any order. For Fiona, it's for Twilight to not die but definitely get a divorce, and then to marry her, also in any order.

In both of these volumes, those inside illustrations are drawn explicitly as thought bubbles.

But even when they're not, they still play on the same duality. Damian is a tough, entitled little brat on the outside; he's a sweet, bashful little boy who just wants friends on the inside. Becky's a spoilt little madam who loves pink on the outside; she's a spoilt little madam who will run a pink tank over you on the inside. (Let's be honest, Becky is the only one remotely living as her true self in this series.)

And so... on the inside cover art being about who people really are, reflecting what people really want. Well. I leave you with this:
