2025 - Comra spoke to Mohamed Dihani about Western Sahara’s ongoing occupation by Morocco. As the UK joins the US and France in backing Morocco, Sahrawis face arrests, censorship, and exilewhile Morocco expands ties with Israel and foreign firms profit off occupied land. [video]
If you still don’t think dairy is fucked up and harmful to cows here’s a little fact I learned today:
• In 1980, the average milk yield/year of a dairy cow was around 2,800 litres.
• In 2017, the average milk yield/ year of a dairy cow has doubled to a total of more than 5,700 litres.
And, to drive my point home, a beef cow (representing the closest to an unmodified lactation) on average only produces around 1,800 litres/year or less.
It is inherently abusive to manipulate an animal to produce over 3 times the amount of milk they naturally would, which not only makes them susceptible to diseases such as hypocalcaemia, ketosis, lameness, and mastitis, but also may prevent them from safely nursing their calf even if they were left alone.
Please don’t support it.
Additionally, broiler (meat-bred) chickens in just 50 years have been bred in such a way they they actually cannot easily live out their natural lifespan. They have been bred entirely to suit a 7 week lifespan, so their heart cannot compensate long-term with the muscle mass and growth it needs to support, and their skeleton cannot support such fast and massive bodily growth. Even chickens younger than 7 weeks old are known to drop from heart attacks if they’ve been exposed to stress such as a sudden change in temperature, or a diet too high in energy.
Animal agriculture is inherently inhumane.
Please don’t support it.

Sami after the gym I imagine arctic animals are disadvantaged in the modern furry world. It was only recently 'discovered' that they need to be this size to be healthy, they overheat easily in warmer parts of the world, and they need an expensive high-fat, high-protein diet so, Sami dealt with some stigma growing up
How it feels lately
ohhhh can hiddden
talking of surplus labor one time my father and I calculated how much money he moved at his warehouse job with one single shipment and it was several times his monthly salary. the technical base of capitalism is so advanced that a warehouse peon can generate the value necessary to sustain themselves for an entire month in mere hours, having the rest consitute surplus labor that can be reinvented to economic development exclusively. the monumental amount of value generated by a mature capitalist economy is large enough to sustain its entire population multiple times over, but at the same time, the parasitism of the small class that owns all of this surplus labor is monumental enough on its own that those workers are barely paid enough to take care of their own health and their working hours cannot be reduced a couple of hours without sending shocks through the entire capital chain. never has the degree of separation between producer and production been so large, never has the chasm between the classes been so ample
of course he didn't produce the commodities being moved, his job was to put them into various boxes and shipments. this warehouse moved textiles, as part of a large international textile company. this one single shipment that could have fed him for multiple months came from an unnamed place in Bangladesh. Even greater is the dispossession and alienation suffered by the proletariat of the parasatized nations, paid for cents on the hundredth euro. Were those textile workers paid fairly, the parasitism of the capital owners wouldn't be sustainable at its current magnitude, but the products would still be sold and the materials would still be paid and the supply would still be more than enough. and the price or production wouldn't even rise that much or at all.
you'll feel like a total dipshit train wreck and no matter what some girl is gonna see you and think "role model". you can't kill yourself you have to go be clocky in the gas station so a 14 year old can have the trajectory of her life altered forever
as annoying as it is to work fast food, at my previous job one time a kid recognized the theta delta pin on my hat and was so fucking excited because i was the first other therian they had ever encountered offline.
"hey....are you a therian?" "yeah!" "what kind of animal?" "eh, some kinda dog" "😲😀 im like a wolf coyote hybrid" "that's fuckin awesome"
to be weird is to cast lifelines all around you

what really drives me nuts is that like. this happens an average of x times per year as a visibly weird person, but we only get made aware of it a small fraction of the time. you can't kill yourself you have to be clocky in the gas station.
Being clocky when i was working as a barista was one of my big joys. Being clocky when i was teaching high schoolers how to play the marimba was my reason for being for half a decade. It sucks how scared I am to leave the house I live in now. But I still need to try and be clocky at the grocery store. I wish i had a job to be clocky at. Being visibly me is one of the most radical acts I'm capable of, and I hope that one day we live in a world where it isn't radical at all.
that's exactly what I was feeling when I wrote this. we all find ways to defy our fear, love is an excellent motivator.
I love going out being clocky. I love seeing a young queer as a cashier. Usually I'm wearing a mask so I imagine folks can't quitr tell until I speak. I almost always complimented on my hair by these folks too. I love being able to thank them and give them a compliment in return.
around a month ago i saw an older trans woman who was probably like 60+ with a cis woman who seemed to be her supportive wife who took her clothes shopping as customers in my store and she seemed so happy to see me there and it melted my heart so much. if you are trans your existence is so important for someone even if it doesnt feel like it. i hope shes doing alright
was also having a terrible day a bit over a week ago but a super pretty trans woman came into the store and we talked a bit after a mutual i know what you are look and she brightened my day a lot and probably doesnt even realize it. i really hope i see her again

There is an evident fascistic impulse to self-infantilization as a tentpole of one's entire personality. Cut from the same cloth as those people who buy their peace of mind at Disney land. Strikes me as something that can only be built on the insular luxury of the angloid world. Walling-out reality in favor of something more palatable. Something simpler. If everyone is just a big kid, then nothing really matters. It's all just a practice run. This seems to be something generated by a lot of American therapy culture, too. This kind of eternal adolescence.
i agree, and some theorists have identified a “right to comfort” as a cornerstone of contemporary white supremacist culture.
But conceptually I see a lot of other connections too.
it kind of reminds me of how the nazis conceived of “degenerate art.” to the nazis, their vision of “good” art was art that promoted the most conventional, the most nostalgic, the most kitsch, the most neoclassical, the most conservative, the most comfortable. Thus, they despised modernist art from movements such as the impressionists and the expressionists, particularly work that depicted the horrors of war (rather than an uncomplicated view of war as an honorable enterprise) such as the work of Otto Dix. Obviously there was also a blunt, vulgar motive to simply discriminate against Jewish artists and anyone who was “influenced by Jewish or non-Aryan ideals” but there was also a formal artistic basis as well.
one could even say that the nazi party censored and burned avant-garde art as a grotesque act of “self-care.” I think there are conceptual echoes of that in every “why i left the left” thonkpiece. Or in the contemporary appropriation by reactionary white people of the term “Black Fatigue,” wherein racist white people complain they are “tired” of seeing and/or interacting with Black people.
Even though Walt Disney died decades ago, I think it’s still worth analyzing his idea of a completely curated amusement park that utterly immersed the guests in a cohesive pampered experience. That was, essentially, the idea that Walt was attempting to achieve when he opened Disney Land in 1955, and there has not, in my opinion, really been a coherent break from that goal after he died and after the construction of subsequent Disney theme parks. Workers have described disney parks as, essentially, high-control environments for them, with extremely strict standards for their behavior, language, and appearance, and Walt Disney World in Florida has a history of relying heavily on workers from economically oppressed backgrounds such as Haitian immigrants (especially for the worst jobs like custodial positions!), and the pay and benefits were always pretty bad.
But all of those very real issues with the working conditions are concealed to park visitors, so as not to break the illusion, the “disney magic.”
An aside about Walt: While Walt Disney was “technically” not a fascist, he was in fact still a political reactionary (especially later in his life) who, in 1941, took out a magazine ad deriding his employees at his animation studio as communists (or at the very least part of a “communist plot”) when they went on strike. In 1947 he went on to give names of animators and labor organizers to HUAC, a clear antagonistic act against ‘uppity’ workers. (Funnily enough, Salvador Dali, whose own work was derided by the Nazis and who fled to america until after the war, became friends with Walt Disney, collaborating on an animated film that remained unfinished until long after both of them were dead. Both of them tilted rightward politically over time and Dali ended up a supporter of fucking Franco and had even been expelled from his own art movement for his right wing politics in the 1930s.)
