Yong - S1 (Pilot) Varian: enthusiastic, filled with youthful joy, untameable impulse to be curious, to explore and to experiment.

Hugo - S2 (Separatist) Varian: living a survival path, working for morally questionable people out of necessity, in a dark place mentally.

Nuru - S3 (Redeemed) Varian: responsibility-driven, hyper focus on "making things better" for their people and trying to find their place in noble society.

Like I genuinely think Varian finding sense of belonging with (literal) like-minded people like them is narratively helping him look inward—to confront parts of himself throughout his youth that he still criticize to this day as an adult and learn to love himself through relating to their struggles and forming bonds with each one of them.

MY THEORIES

Bebus the Wise is/was an incredibly powerful wizard that cloned himself a bunch and unleashed the clones across the multiverse to grow their power (perhaps to create an army of Bebi, or human batteries, or sexual partners)

There’s just the one he keeps using the 8th level spell clone to stay alive and goes on multiple adventures (at some point the spell fucked up and there was two at the same time)

The Bebi are a species of human-looking wizards that reproduce by going on adventures to grow stronger and find a Tower to be able to attract a mate then unleash the offspring across the multiverse
