And I think it's quite tragic how both Susie and Ralsei's mentors you can't bring to Castle Town. Sure, Lancer's there and Queen is there and Tenna can be there, but it hurts a little how the two adults that understood and helped these kids like no other are forever out of reach. Both not exactly alive or dead, but both confined. And Susie has so many fond memories that she can hold on to, so many moments where she for once didn't feel like an idiot for trying — but those are just memories now and there's nothing she can do about it. And Ralsei has to live with regret and the knowledge that, in other circumstances, they could have been friends, but now they have to keep going and try to decipher how to be themself all alone. Because now they have no mentor to provide them with guidance. They can't talk with the people that understand them like no other, for better or for worse. And I think that's kind of tragic, isn't it?

Is it just me, or does the saying "Deltarune's themes of escapism" always set off alarm bells in your head? Like, yeah, escapism is touched upon, but I see so often the idea that the Dark World is inherently escapist, yet the conflicts the various Dark Worlds both within themselves and their effects on the Light Word present are very, very real. Susie sleeping in Castle Town and calling it "home" is escapism because she's *bending it all to be an escape for her*, ironically despite the Dark World being how she learned about the fate that clearly traumatized her, and not because the Dark World is just an escape. It's much more important than that.

The thing that really gets me about Krusielle is how Susie has so much love to give to both Kris and Noelle (and obviously Ralsei but this post ain't about her) and both are equally as important to her, yet Kris and Noelle really want to be Susie's special person, so there is a lot of longing and jealousy feelings that are clearly trying to be repressed. In Noelle's case this is something you can see in the scene at the festival when Susie tells her about her one-on-one time with Kris at the diner, while with Kris is more subtle but you can see this, for example, in the final scene of this chapter — Susie talking about how what they have is so special and intimate but that Noelle needs to join. And of course, Susie does not do this on purpose, she just loves having friends that want her around (she's literally that one meme of HOLY SHIT TWO [three] CAKES!!!), but what she doesn't get is that the way she expresses this is upsetting her friends a bit. Both Kris and Noelle long to be wanted by people — they are insecure teenagers that really want to be someone's special person, their number one if you will, but this idea kind of goes against Susie's nature of loving everyone.

I'm sorry but the Fun Gang is in love with each other. It isn't necessarely in a romantic way, but they are all at least a bit head over heels, knee-deep in love with each other and would kill/die for the other two, and I will die on this hill.
