I trust Daniel Molloy (as an interviewer)! If he's repeatedly asking Lestat if he was a stutterer as a child, Daniel is onto something.
And everything else is a type of distraction that Lestat WANTS us to be distracted by.
In previous seasons, Danny Molloy talks about how Louis uses third person "him" or "one" when he's trying to distance himself from his actions. Danny is good at catching this stuff!
Lestat is a master of DISTRACTION. Look at the visual difference in the third season (a naked woman showering in the background of a shot, switching from documentary style to colour, time skips, so much modern slang it's almost hard to understand).
Danny repeatedly throughout the episode asks Lestat if he was a stutterer as a kid. (the repetition also kind of mimicking the act of stuttering). He's hammering him. Don't get distracted! Stay on point (both Danny and us, the viewer)!
And what happens at the end of the episode? Lestat stutters as he sees his mother; and it looks like we're going to start delving into his childhood. That's where the pain is. That's where the story is.
Thank you Daniel Molloy.

I love how bisexual The Vampire Lestat feels.
It's so nice. So comfy. So great. So needed.
Love to be represented, especially by manic pixie dream girl evil, Lestat.

'The Little Mermaid' by Hiroaki Ikeda, 1971
"fledgling, lover, mother."
I love that Lestat says, “I serve it to you now, how it felt then…” — this tells me that Lestat will come to feel very differently about that relationship over the course of the series.
"expectations?"
"none. nothing. just sit with me"
his own mother making his desperate call for help sound like a bootycall
This was so heartbreaking.
Daniel inquired about Lestat's stutter three times in 3x01, and each time Lestat either did not or could not answer. It was only when Gabriella (and all the trauma she drags in her wake) entered in the final moments of the episode that was saw for ourselves it was true.
Yeah, I don’t think this season is going to leave us in doubt as to what the truth is. Lestat is going to deny and repress and deflect, but the “omniscient narration” of the Failures will tell us the truth.
if y’all are watching iwtv by other means, please go ahead i’m not stopping you BUT if you can, make sure you’re also watching it on amc. it’s the only way the network has proof that people actually care about the show. low numbers means higher possibility of cancellation, and while i don’t think that’s necessarily going to happen, there is always the chance it could happen.

Metropolis | 1927 | dir. Fritz Lang
I loved the quiet moment where Lestat plays guitar and the lights go out in Detroit - it was so peaceful amidst the frenetic pace of the episode. But then we see Lestat suffering, admitting he is struggling, and I realized: he can’t abide the quiet moments. Those are the moments when he unravels.
And suddenly the frenetic pace makes total sense - Lestat is drowning his thoughts and memories in noise and chaos and sensation. Quiet is terrifying.

Fascinating!
and the way throughout the entire episode two common themes were daniel asking lestat if he was a stutterer as a child (and lestat ignoring the question) and lestat constantly reaching out to his mother begging her to give him the slightest bit of attention. and then when she finally comes back to him he starts stuttering
"Expectations?" "None. Nothing. Just sit with me."
Noooooooooo
