Maxine was done SO DIRTY up until the end of the season. I relate to her and I feel so bad :( "we just grew apart, so what"????????
She just wants to talk about her feelings and communicate, no one can convince me that isn't okay
You'll say, "Do you think we can be friends?" Oh, maybe we have reached the end.
I will just leave this here.

“you made so many people happy” 🥹
ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: 2x09 - “The Dirt Under Your Nails.”
vi literally sucked so much at holding a grudge against caitlyn. they reunite at victor’s sanctuary and within a few sentences she’s calling her cupcake. she’s so useless and in love even when there’s a rift between them and honestly, i can’t blame her
That’s what i keep saying about the Caitlyn/Vi scene as well when people criticize Vi. It’s like they totally forgot what Jinx did and their last conversation before locking Vi in the cell. Essentially, they want Vi to continue the cycle - go after Jinx and sacrifice her own happiness/never give up on Jinx. (The whole point of their conversation).
Then Caitlyn came up and provided her support, letting her know she didn’t have to choose. Idk it just feels like a lot of people wanted Vi solely dedicated to Jinx without realizing that was the ultimate issue
This, exactly. Thank you!
I think that at this point they're just trying to make a villain out of nothing because their headcanon didn't happen. But tbh since season one many people blame Vi for everything Jinx has become and done without diving in the complexity of Jinx's character as well. I really dislike how they put Vi in this box where she needs to be 100% of the time dedicated to Jinx otherwise 'how dare she' or 'no it's ooc'.
Like you said, the whole point of breaking the cycle is also to stop this cat and mouse chasing game as well that makes Vi blame herself every single time. But that aside, the dialogue is so clear that it surprises me that people are actually saying Vi didn't care. It's so clear she thought she left. Especially because Jinx is still a wanted criminal.
What Vi said in the dialogue is not even open to interpretation, it's right there in her words. She thought she left. I don't understand this lack of attention. Or maybe people are just really trying to find anything to blame because they wanted something different.
People judging Cait and Vi for going at it in a dirty cell where Vi's sister was previously imprisoned and when they're about to go to war, but like... they're about to go to war!! I understand their thought process, like they could literally die! At least they would have died knowing that part of each other.

The Aftermath
(More blood under the cut for @venomwrites specifically)
I think what I love/hate most about the Arcane ending is that everyone got what they needed but not what they wanted.
Jinx needed to end the cycle, she’s been wishing someone could finish the job the whole series, she just didn’t want to go out a hero.
Echo needed to be a savior to help his people, he just thought it would be as a leader and not as a soldier.
Mel needed to prove herself as a Medarda, she just never wanted the acarne skills or the cost of her mother.
Jayce and Viktor in beautiful turn needed to be seen and understood. They found their own truths and destiny in each other, yet it destroyed them.
Vi needed family. She wanted the family she had back, instead she’s given closure for her loses and the chance to build a new one with a person she loves.
Caitlyn needed respect. She got it, but she now understands just how much it costs and just how heavy that crown is.
All of their endings satisfy exactly what they’ve wanted this whole show, just in a way none of them wanted.
ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: 2x08 - “Killing is a Cycle” ↳ "Some people are really misunderstanding the dialogue before the scene in the cell" | (essay link)
I need to get this out, because this moment baffled me at first.
Vi is convinced that she's lost everyone, and it's not quite her lowest, but she is turning all the pain of having lost her sister and her happy little family from Act 2 onto herself. I always make the wrong choice and because of that I've lost everyone.
And she starts this little vent off with Go on, say I told you so.
She thinks Caitlyn is here to berate her for siding with her sister again, but Caitlyn surprises her. Caitlyn instead comes clean about having known all along that Vi was going to choose her sister.
And not only did she know, but that she supported it.
Caitlyn went "vi is going to try and break her sister out. i will remove the barriers to their reunion."
SO from Vi's perspective, she's just had her resurrected father die, her sister walk away--choose to leave--and now she might lose Caitlyn too because Vi "chose wrong" again, BUT instead she is met with acceptance. And this is more than Caitlyn accepting that Vi is always going to choose her sister, this is also Caitlyn accepting that Vi is going to fuck up (something Vander didn't give her much room for with all that leader talk) and accepting just how much Vi's family means to her. This one act washes away all that "its her blood in your veins" crap.
This was Caitlyn fully accepting who Vi is and who she's been and where she's from. And she did it with a smirk and some swagger.
Yeah, I'd of grabbed her and kissed her too even if that was .5 seconds after my sister basically said she was going to end it all.

Arcane: 2x08 - Killing Is a Cycle
"I choose wrong every time."
People who act as if Caitlyn hasn't largely made up for the stupid things she's done despite all her actions implying that she regrets and is trying to make up for it, which she largely does objectively speaking, all under the pretext that there wasn't apologetic dialogue on her part...
THIS !! THANK YOU !!
Not everything needs to be said, actions speak louder than words, and Cait actions were pretty obvious
