My landlord, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.

Gráinne Cuffe talked to me and other tenants and housing campaigners about how terrible my landlord is.

My home, and neighbourhood, is going to be "regenerated" by our landlord Rochdale Boroughwide Housing. Along with my flat they are proposing to demolish over 800 other properties on Lower Falinge & College Bank.

In 2013, the residents of ex-council estate in Bath, Foxhill, became aware of regeneration plans for their community. With proposals lead by Curo Housing association, who took over the remaining social housing stock in Foxhill from B&NES council (Bath & North East Somerset) in 1999, plans revealed Curo's intentions for the complete demolition of the heart of the estate, with an overall loss of 542 homes. While 700 homes were accounted for in the rebuild, they marked an increase of 395 at market value, and a decrease of 256 for social rent.

Joining together and forming the Foxhill Resident's Association, the Save Foxhill Campaign was initiated to fight against the inevitable displacement of their long-standing community and the bulldozing of their cherished homes under Curo's regeneration plans.

With the campaign increasingly growing momentum to stand up for the social value of housing against a wider culture of financialisation, this short documentary SAVE FOXHILL reflects upon the communal and personal impact of regeneration plans, the journey undergone in times of uncertainty, and the power of collective action.

Has the digital revolution brought a new freedom to cinematic framing? A number of recent films with non-traditional aspect ratio's, including Lisandro Alonso's Jauja, Xavier Dolan's Mommy and Gust Van den Berghe's Lucifer, would suggest so.

In our terrestrial view of things, the speed of light seems incredibly fast. But as soon as you view it against the vast distances of the universe, it's unfortunately very slow. This animation illustrates, in realtime, the journey of a photon of light emitted from the surface of the sun and traveling across a portion of the solar system, from a human perspective.

I've taken liberties with certain things like the alignment of planets and asteroids, as well as ignoring the laws of relativity concerning what a photon actually "sees" or how time is experienced at the speed of light, but overall I've kept the size and distances of all the objects as accurate as possible. I also decided to end the animation just past Jupiter as I wanted to keep the running length below an hour.
