(another one ive gotten before), she had Straight Blanchin' by Lil Big Dawg stuck in her head. ive never been so pleased and i was so delighted she was so excited to let me know it was all very pleasant and adorable. rly having the authentic gravity falls experience, experiencing that banger the way alex hirsch intended and wendy corduroy despised. she's literally wendy corduroy at the end of the day. cept she was havin a gr8 time so prolly more of a soos moment rly.

talking to my brothers about the drifting stars au and how i read a bit of the og fanfic the au is like largely attributed to as far as im aware (https://archiveofourown.org/works/5432756?view_full_work=true it's a banger) and i was discussing with them where in the portal altercation in NWHS they would place mabel falling through if they were to do such a thing. my personal take was that it was a missed extra drama and tension opportunity to make it happen before mabel says "I trust you" but bro 2 disagreed. we were discussing the merits of being kinda antithetical to the thesis of your source material in fic for the sake of your concept's execution and such, and my brother has totally changed my mind. i convinced him that a significant appeal here was making dipper rly mad (although when i first introduced the concept of the au he did immediately go "yo this concept rocks bc we get mabel and ford forced to be one on one and we didnt get that much in the show" and i did inform him that yes this is the crux of the gag. so he's locked in). and he cane up with an Excellent point. we can conserve my desire for mabel to have the opportunity to put her trust in stan so we can have stan and dip have a Bad Bad Time, BUT! instead of her letting go, floating up and then getting sucked into the portal at the exact moment ford would have come out in canon, as i suggested, mabel is floatin right in front of the portal and dipper, instead of just staying put and yelling at mabel that it was a horrible decision (as he does in canon), jumps and tries to push the button himself, or Possibly even tries to grab mabel..? idk actually ill consult him on this i like the first but im not certain how itd play out. because essentially: dipper is the reason mabel falls in. :OOOOOO so basically we still get mabel's trust and optimism, And we get even More of dipper's mistrust and skepticism, which he gets to Act upon, and we still get mabel to fall in. even More opportunity for dipper rage bc now he's blaming stan for what Is stan's fault and Also deflecting bc he himself v much screwed up. it's genius am i gonna have to write fanfic for the first time in years? idk but i like my bro's style it hurts even more.
